Early Action or Regular Decision?

Hi, I'm currently about to finish my junior year and I LOVE Georgetown (but am cautious about such love so I won't be heartbroken next year) and I had a pretty simply question.

I know that at a few schools (UVA, from my observation) that applying Early Action is sometimes not the best idea because it is a FAR more talented group of applicants than the RD pool. However, from the readings I've done on Georgetown, this philosophy seems to be a little different.. can anyone help explain to me if it is a better idea to apply to Georgetown EA or RD?

Thanks in advance if anyone does!!!

I applied and was accepted EA. Georgetown doesn’t reject in the EA round–the worst thing that can happen is you get deferred–so in my opinion, it’s worth it to apply early. You’ll get a second look in the Spring if you’re deferred. Good luck!

Thanks! It’s reassuring to hear it from someone who actually applied.

Georgetown is pretty clear, though, that there is no advantage to applying early. In fact, their data show a slightly higher admit rate in the spring.

cant you just apply EA to both georgetown and UVA since neither is binding or single choice?

I was just wondering whether to apply early to Georgetown, not UVA… But I am applying to UVA regular decision. Thanks for all the help, I honestly think it depends now on whether I’ll have my final test scores all settled by the Early Decision deadline.

Thanks burry! I’ll have to just play how the fall goes.
