Early Action or Regular Decision?

I was wondering if it’s better to apply EA or RD if I’m not a strong applicant (received a D for a sem of AP Bio junior year and a total of 5 C’s in sophomore and junior year combined) but I heard that applying EA will give me an advantage since the applicant pool is smaller. Any thoughts on which deadline I should pick? Applying to UMass Amherst, Seattle U, U San Fran, U San Diego, and U of Oregon.

EA may give a slight boost but that is usually only for ED. If you need more time for grade recovery then RD is a better option.

Colleges want to accept students who can do well in college. You have not really shown this. I would recommend working very hard to get better grades (see ideas in link below) this quarter/semester and then applying RD.

Well, we don’t know the whole story. GPA? Test scores? Sports? Legacy? Full pay?
