Early action or wait it out?

So I planned on applying to my top two schools (Georgetown and BC) early action. This means that I only have the October SAT date to take the test. I've been doing SAT prep so that's the day when my supposed "desired SAT score" results should happen, and I took SAT II's last year. Unfortunately, I wish my SAT II's were better (630, 670, and 690) especially for a school like Georgetown.

Should I send in those SAT II scores for the November 1 deadline, or wait it out and take the tests again and apply regular?

Do those schools reject a lot of people during the EA round, or are the majority of applicants deferred to RD? If most people are deferred, I’d say to take the chance and apply EA. A 670 / 690 isn’t going to get you outright rejected, and if you are deferred you can just retake the SAT and send in the new score to be considered in the RD round.

The feeling around here seems to be that EA is weighted more toward outstanding candidates so you need to assess you overall profile versus the 50th to 75th%-tile of BC and Georgetown. That said, if your regular SATs come in around 680, then Georgetown will be a big reach regardless of EA or RD; BC would be more of a match.

You can send in other test scores later if you get deferred? I didn’t know that!

And I’m pretty sure both schools are really big on deferring people and then accepting around 20% of them after in regular decision.

Wait until you know you have the scores.

Another alternative is to take the ACT on September 12 and see how you do, but you have to register by August 21.

^^ like hmom says; wait it out.

You can’t get rejected from Georgetown EA so its yoour call, and you can’t apply to Georgetown EA and another school EA/ED.

@ Elasticity: Really? I thought you could apply to others, as long as it’s EA and not ED

whoops my bad, read it wrong… its just ED
