Dubaibliss, how did you get your letter already?

DC suburbs in Maryland

no one should have to worry about college this much. it would be an honor for any of us to get accepted, i'm sure, but i think it would be a good idea for all of us to take a deep breath. we are all bright, young, motivated people. let's not let one school get to our heads.

(and no, i haven't been accepted or deferred yet, so i'm not just bs-ing all of you)

Good luck and try to enjoy the holidays!

long island. still no letter. i'm guessing tomorrow. i just want to sleep until the mailman comes.

btw i also applied SFS.

The 10% admitted from deferral is misleading because a) that includes some really not-serious applicants and b) your file is given a review by a new admissions official who does not know or care you were deferred.

Also, 99% of people who think their life is ruined because they don't get into georgetown realize they're wrong when they actually get to college. The other 1% transfer into georgetown anyway. So please dont freak out over it. If deferred and still want to go, be sure to send a letter to admissions updating your file and renewing interest, it probably helped me get in.

what should one say in this letter to the admissions office?

Im also SFS... International history... but i cant wait to get that letter anymore... I JUST WANT TO KNOW!!!

Mario, I won't have the time to get another SAT subject test score, (I have two right now), will this be a serious detriment to my chances come deferral time?

I wrote them telling them what I did since I applied (kind of improved grades, did some good service work, etc) and that I was still committed to georgetown because it's unique in several ways, namely jesuit traditition and the government department. I also asked another teacher to send a rec but he was pretty old and I think he forgot. Just a one page double spaced letter.

And no, the two SATs shouldn't be a real problem. I never sent in my mid-term grade report senior year at all and no one cared. People skimp on little things all the time. Do your best to get an SAT II in but if not don't sweat it especially if the scores are good.

live in nyc and did not receive letter in mail

Mario, I won't have the time to get another SAT subject test score, (I have two right now), will this be a serious detriment to my chances come deferral time?

I tacked on a response to that after my last post, but short answer is no.

Hey everyone,

I live in the Maryland suburbs of DC, and everyone (including me) got their letters from Georgetown today. It was a mixed bag for everyone at my school, but in general, we get into georgetown more than we should because a fair number of applicant's parents work at georgetown.

I applied to SFS
...not going to post stats...that a little over the top, sorry

oh and the letter was really small, when I got into tulane, they sent this massive bohemeth of an envelope
Georgetown's was a normal-sized envelope with three sheets, the outer-most one was blue, and you can tell that you got in from the blue one because on the bold headings that your eye is drawn to says "Housing Options"

congratulations PHD816!!!!! :) I live 40 mins away from DC in MD but still haven't got it today. Maybe have to wait another weekend I guess...

btw PHD816, do you go to boarding school in MD? Is it Gtown prep school???

no i go to public school in montgomery county (northwest suburbs in maryland), but i literally live eight miles from georgetown...
i bike to campus and back like every day during the summer...
it would take about two minutes for the mail to get to me

Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
