Notre Dame recently switched to Restrictive Early Action from simple EA. Is there data from other schools that have done this that would indicate the percentage/numeric drop in applications because of this?

Interesting question and I don’t have any data for you. The restriction may not reduce applications by much. Generally REA confers an advantage in admissions chances; not as much as ED but a bump nonetheless. Some of the applicants who would have applied regular decision in the past will now choose REA if ND is their first choice. So there are competing pressures down and up.
