Early Action U of C

If you apply early action to University of Chicago, can they outright reject you, or do they defer you to the regular applicant pool like Georgetown.

They do reject outright.

you'd have to have a really terrible app to get rejected EA though; they'll likely differ to main pool

Actually, I think last year the admitted about 1/3, deferred about 1/3, and rejected the rest. I think they only defer students who have a serious chance of getting in -- they do accept many of the deferred students in the spering.

Perhaps if Libby is reading this she can shed some light on the actual percentage of EA students who were deferred to RD, and the percentage of those deferred EA students who were accepted RD for the 2010 class.

In the basic information page of the application, it has a space where you check "most likely applying early action".If you check that box, can you change it to regular decision after you submitted that basic information sheet?
