Early Action with Research

I am currently working on a research paper, but it will not be done until November or December, so I would not be able to send it in with my Early Action application. Would I be able to send it in for Regular Decision if I am deferred? Is it worth it to apply Early Action/will it hurt me to apply Early Action without the research paper?

Thanks!

The admissions office generally prefers that you not send full research papers, as there isn’t time in the process for them to be fully evaluated.

The best way to tell the admissions office about your research is to discuss it in one of your essays, and to tell them, for example, what you’re studying, how you became interested in that topic, and what you’ve learned from your experience. You can send an abstract of the paper, but it may be more useful to discuss the impact of the experience on your life.
