early action

If I applied to UGA under EA, can i apply to another school Early action?

In most cases, yes. Some schools, particularly the more selective ones like Yale and Harvard, enforce single-choice early action which means if you apply to one of those you can't apply to any others early. With UGA's plan and most other EA plans, you can apply to as many other schools under EA as you wish.

when do EA decisions come out?

Around Dec 15th

my sister applied EA a few years ago and got hers in november... does anyone else have experience with this?

My daughter is also applying EA. On the website where you check to make sure all your info has ben received it states that letters of acceptance will go out on the 15th of December.

that is right, I talked with an admissions officer today. Im anxious.

I applied about 4 weeks ago and got a large mailed package and an e-mail invitation 2 days ago inviting me to apply to the honors program. I called the school and was told that while I was not officially in, I could reasonably assume I was.

GPA is 3.87 UW Rank in top 7% out of 700 kids with 3 APs with scores of 5. all honors or gifted classes in HS. This year, as a senior, I am taking 4 AP classes, Java, Biology, Econ/Govt and Calc.

SAT is 720m/760v/680writing.

Work 15 hours a week doing small engine repair, welding, mower repair during school and full time in the summer. Decent ec's including bungee jumping in New Zealand...no kidding.

Too bad I really want to go to tech.

Stevie I got the same thing today.

I received the same thing! So y'all think we are definitely in UGA? What about Honors? We got a chance at Honors?

I'm pretty excited.

OK- I'm a little confused. S got the big packet about the merit awards (FF etc.) with all the stuff to complete (basically like applying to another school). Do you have to do this all again to apply to the Honors College once you are accepted to the university? This stuff about the merit awards doesn't have anything to do with the honors college, at least on the surface.

If you get the Ramsey or the FF, then you're automatically into the honors program. Otherwise, you have to apply to the honors program seperately, making it a grand total of 3 applications to fill out unless you don't want to apply for honors.

cool. they've recieved all my info. now i have to wait for a decision. i hate waiting. lol. i'm worried about my SAT score and being out of state. but maybe being a minority helps. hopefully.

Thanks, vig. S will love that! Seems like they could use the Ramsey/FF app for the honors college......

I checked the website and it says the application for Ramsey/FF will serve as the application for honors college. The odds for Ramsey don't look so good. I guess it's worth a shot if the application works for honors college, too. It just means it has to be done very soon!

Vig, can you verify what stevie said... that is if you get the big packet in the mail encouraging you to apply for FF, then basically you are at least already in the university?

S got the big packet, but has now gotten two emails claiming his application to the university is incomplete. They are missing his high school assessment (I think that is the counselor rec) and his transcript. The school sent all that stuff together and received a postcard back from Georgia indicating that it was received, so who knows? The counselor will have to check.
So-I guess I wouldn't assume he is in the university if they don't even have all his stuff.

If you apply for FF, that app counts as your honors app. Honestly, I chose to use the FF app because I was looked better on that app than I do on the honors one.
