Early Action

Accepted from CT! :)

hahaha ya at first the letter size threw me off!

Stats: 4.44 GPA 31 ACT, lots of EC’s

Congratulations to everyone with acceptances, and good luck to those waiting to hear.
njmomo4, My daughter got in last year with a 3.4 GPA and did not submit SATs. She had a knock-out essay, great ECs, and an outstanding interview, however. Bard looks at the whole person. Good luck.

I got my acceptance letter today, even though I applied regular decision. If you apply regular but submit your app before the EA deadline, do you become an EA applicant? Just wondering, because one of my other schools did that too.

MA student, 1980 combined SAT, 3.6 GPA, not a whole lot of ECs, but an essay that everyone who read it really liked and hopefully great recs. Good luck to everyone else! :)

Congratulations to everyone. My daughter’s stats: Class rank: top 11%, GPA: 94.6 (not sure what that translates to) SAT: 2150, National writing awards, great recs, lots of AP classes and great ECs. Bard was a target school for her, but after visiting Wesleyan twice and Vassar she withdrew her apps from them and went for Bard only. Felt the kids were much more genuinely intellectual. It seems like a really fantastic and very special school.

Congratulations everyone, and good luck to those waiting. Welcomed home my freshman daughter after her first semester and even tired from the last push of papers and exams, she is so happy! @Antidrep, she too went for the qualities your daughter describes and hasn’t been disappointed. It’s not all serious, but to hear her tell it a lot of the fun has something more to it … Hope everyone who is accepted but undecided gives it a good hard look.

My daughter is deferred. They want to see her senior year grades and have her write another essay. I really can’t blame them. She spent two years at a public school and had an average gpa, and transferred last year to a very small private school where she has had a lot more academic success. It makes sense that they would want to see if she can maintain her better grades.

@danceclass-Thanks for your comments. My daughter also did not submit SAT’s, but she has good EC’s, and great recs. Her essay was really unique, but the graded paper she submitted was just okay.

I was accepted today from Connecticut. :)

I have a 3.86 weighted GPA and I didn’t submit SAT scores. I genuinely love to learn and I’m excited about Bard!

Congrats everyone! Shyn12, just curious- since EA is nonbinding and you submitted your app before the deadline, why did you technically apply RD?

I just got my letter! It was my first acceptance and I’m so excited!

From California, 1920 SAT, 4.56 weighted GPA, good ECs.

@njmomo4 – Suggest that now is the time to pull out all the stops, if your child is serious about Bard. If she would definately go to Bard if admitted, she and you and your school should do all you can to convey that. In addition, of course, to whatever instructions Bard gave … Can your guidance counselor call on her behalf? Can you visit again? Do you know anyone connected with Bard who can put in a good word? The answers all may be no, and that’s not a problem. Just trying to say that there’s no need to be bashful at this point! Bard seems to really want to know that student is committed to the school, and its approach, as well as the qualities it looks for in students.

Congrats to all the acceptances, and good luck to those waiting!

@momwonders–All good suggestions that are very much appreciated! Thank you. She thought she was done with all her apps, but here we go again! Bard is definitely one of her favorites, along with Smith (also a reach).

smwhtslghtlydzed, I checked off “Regular Decision” when applying via the common app website. However, I submitted my app on November 13. I am wondering if submitting that early puts me into an EA pool for some colleges, since I did not check off ED (which is binding) and they want to get as many apps out of the way as possible before the RD flood comes in.

Got accepted to Bard. Waiting to hear back from other schools before my final decision is made, but a possible Bard 2016 student over here. Good luck to everyone in the regular pool!
