I'm a 15 yr old Sophmore and would like to know when is the earliest I can apply for admission to Harvard and also what are the average overall scores (including GPA SAT, ACT) for people generally accepted under the early action category.
Do extra curicular activities count much?
Please reply
Thanks

^that is sooooo lame and old.

You apply for colleges during the first half of your senior year. Harvard has the Single Choice Early Action program, allowing you to apply by November 1 and hear a decision by December 15. If you are not accepted then, you are most likely deferred, which means you're considered with the regular applicants and hear by April 1. Regular applicants have until the end of December to apply.

The main difference between the two is that the deadline for SCEA may be too early for you to finish the application by, and that even though it is non-binding (that is, you don't have to go to Harvard if accepted), you can't apply to anywhere else early, meaning Harvard really should be your first choice anyway.

SATs aren't the be-all-and-end-all, but the average acceptee generally has two or three sections, and some SAT IIs, in the 700+ (often 750+), although in that range, the scores tend to be more indistinguishable. GPA--Try to be near the top of your class. Extracurriculars are extremely important, arguably the most important part of your application (some may say it's GPA--this depends, I would imagine, on the strength of your activities). The important thing is to just find what you love and follow it with all your heart. There's nothing colleges love more than a demonstrated passion. That's a bit unfair since not many people find their real passion in high school, but that's the way it is...

Good luck!! You're still a ways away from the applications, so just remember. Don't go through high school trying to perfect your resum

Thanks very much for replying. I've got a 4.5 GPA with 3 Honors courses (my school doesn't offer more at my level), what would my GPA be on a scale of 4.
Thanks Again
P.S. My sn is just an old mixed up physics formula Q= mc^t (for calculating heat absorbed/given out by a body.)
