I am pretty positive I am not getting in, but I do have to agree with mkates. The SAT score is a small piece that they weigh, I have a 1400 and I don't think it will determine my admission/rejection. Here's a scary story for all the hopefuls: A good friend of mine who goes to BC now went to a catholic hs, was the salutorian (can't spell), placed at state in track all four years, played soccer and was the star player, got a 1350 SAT, wrote an amazing essay and probably had great recs and she was rejected RD! ever since I heard that I completely gave up. Admissions are too unpredictable to rely upon and I don't mind ending up at UW next year. Either way it is out of our hands :(

yeah that's a scary story and I have another...a girl that graduated last year..saludatorian(cant spell either!) county athlete of the year, legacy, 1340 SAT and lots of community service and clubs and NHS and class SGA...rejected RD..I agree..it is extremely unpredictable.

Alright, how about this...I am unbelievably catholic-i've worked in parish office, involved in Life Teen, been a leader in Life Teen, been director of the altar servers, taught CCD, volunteer work etc.... My dad is a catholic deacon, my mom is a school administrator at christ the king catholic school. I'm from atlanta, and i know only about 12% of NDs students come from the southeast. I have a 1370 on my SAT, 730 math 640 verbal, a 3.94 gpa. I will graduate with 4 APs, and all other classes i have ever taken have been honors. I've worked all 4 years of high school, changing jobs only once. I work now (and have for the past year and a half) at Planet Smoothie as a manager... good leadership no? I put in about 20+ hours a week outside of school, having no time for any athletics. I'm in NHS, Jr. Civitan, have volunteered a lot, went to the Georgia Governor's Honors Program this summer for Spanish, and can get excellent recs and write a good essay.
I am terrified of not getting into Notre Dame. I've wanted to go there for as long as I can remember. Can anyone please tell me either way what you think about my chances?

I think it is too unpredictable to tell you for sure either way, but I do think you have a fairly good shot. I say fairly good because you just never know, but I could definately see you getting an acceptance letter. If for some reason you don't though, don't forget about transfer admission (I know, it sucks, but it works....that is how I got into ND). Good luck!

It's not too surprising since a lot of the spots are taken by EA and ND cares a lot about SAT scores.

My school does not rank, but I have a 1520 and a 3.93 UW with 10 APs and so far a four 5's and a 4. Is not having a rank a huge issue, or can I still apply EA?

Apply EA. No doubt.

What can you tell me docmom? You seem to know lots about these admissions.

Not DocMom, granted, but I would definately go RA if I were you SC. I would ask admissions for sure but I just think that they really look for high high high SAT's during early. THen again, I think you would just be deferred EA and not rejected, but still better to play it safe IMO. Hope that helps

BTW: next time just go ahead and start a new thread for yourself instead of posting on a similar one because it gets confusing as to what advice is for whom.

Referring to emswim, this is an EA applicant through and through. You can't get much higher than a 1520. He/she has a 3.93 unweighted, and has taken ten AP's and has scored very high on the junior year AP exams. I can't think what else this kid would have to do to apply EA. Barring some hidden problem, like a bad teacher rec, I would bet a healthy sum of cash on this kid getting in EA.

The other thing is that you do have better odds of getting in EA than RD at Notre Dame, statistically. If your stats are in range it's a no brainer. They accept something like 48% of EA applicants I believe. Yes, they have higher stats overall, but I know many kids with RD range or lower stats who applied EA (and did not get in).

SC, you would appear to be an RA applicant only because of your test scores. Where are you in class rank? Have you considered retaking your SAT and ACT? Notre Dame admissions will tell you the number one mistake people make is not taking those tests more than once. If nothing else it shows effort. Your gpa and outside work commitments are impressive. I cannot help but believe your parents' careers will be an advantage, as will your geographic location.

hey! so I got an email that someone responded to my other post. It's crazy, I haven't been on this forum for months, but as an updated I was waitlisted at nd and took my name off the list. But now I am happy at a small lac and I really enjoy it. Don't obsess too much over this, I did and I wasted way too much time and energy on it, everything worked out for the better anyway. Good luck!

yeah, I'm taking the SAT again October 8th. Haven't taken the ACT, but then again their average ACT score is much higher than their SAT...

The first time I took the SAT I had a 1320, now its jumped to a 1370. I'm hoping to get it up at least 50 more points, however unlikely that may be.
