Early Action

How important are SAT scores? I only have a 1280 (out of 1600) and a 1950 (out of 2400). Everything else is excellent (GPA: 4.0 NW, 4.4 W, numerous EC's, Tennis [4yrs], 13 AP Classes, double legacy [grandfather, father])
I'm feel that I'm really borderline. Is there anybody out there that has some Notre Dame Admissions background that can help me? Do I have a decent chance for early action admission?

Wow.

Double legacy. Very nice.

You need to break at least 1300.

1350 would be a realistic goal. If you get 1400, then you're pretty much in.

With a double, you'll def. grab a deferral if you're not admitted. Retake the SATs and get about 1350 and you're a go during the RA period.

Officially you would be considered a single legacy (double requires both parents) though having the grandfather can't hurt. Anyways, I am going to be the dissenting opinion, I think you get in. I would have wanted to see a higher SAT score, especially for EA, but I think the legacy boost and the rest of your stats will be enough to get you in EA. Good luck!

I got a deferral.
Do I have any chance?
I'm going to get a 4.857 GPA for this semester, but my SAT is still bugging me.

Yes, you still have a chance. Send in new awards and if you have time re-take the SAT ASAP because you are very very close.
