early action

is it more favorable to more or less qualified candidates?

From what I’ve seen with EA, less qualified candidates got in early while candidates who were more qualified were wait-listed RD. But that’s just my $.02! I applied EA and I think it’s DEFINITELY the way to go!

I also applied EA and would consider myself an average qualifed canadite for NEU (I fell pretty much at the mid-top end of their middle 50% stats). EA is nice since you get your decision in December, as well as the fact that if you are rolled over, you have basically a second shot. It just depends on where else you apply. (Some schools don’t allow you to apply EA/ED to other schools. i.e. Boston College won’t allow you to apply ED to another school and apply to Boston College) EA is nice and I can’t really think of any cons to it. I do know some admissions officers will tell you that EA is for a more qualified pool, but I think its pretty much the same.

It also really matters to what college you’re applying to. I completely bombed last year (honestly…you dont want to hear the grades), and I got in RD but I am a girl and applied computer science.

with an 84/100 should i apply early decision?

^Bear in mind, it is early ACTION, so you won’t have a binding agreement to attend should you (hopefully!) get in!
