Is Early Action helpful for OOS students?

Put it this way…it has never been a good idea for anyone to apply to U of M late. If UofM is your choice for college get your app in early.

As a Canadian, is it almost a MUST to apply EA to UMich to gain acceptance?

Better safe than sorry.

^Yea, but I don’t know if I want to apply SCEA to Yale, but if I really need to apply EA to UMich, then I’d do that instead of SCEA for sure…so, does anyone know if it is REALLY beneficial for internationals (Canada) to apply EA?

It’s really beneficial for ANYONE to apply EA

When I was applying to college two year ago, we were allowed to apply to both SCEA Yale and Early Action Rolling for UMich. I dunno if UMich’s admission policies have changed though…

^ Yes, they have changed. UM is no longer rolling but now has a true EA plan.

I know Stanford’s SCEA policy allows you to apply EA to public schools in your home school. Not sure about Yale. Guess you’ll have to choose as OOS.

Early Action is almost always a good idea. It’s non-binding, and it lets you know your options earlier. Of course, if you’re doing restricted early action for another school, then I guess you’d have to pick. As an OOS, if your stats are good, I doubt EA would change your admissions decision.
