Early Actions Questions

i'm a junior in high school. i plan to apply for the fall 2008 term. i was wondering if anyone had any info on deadlines when would you project the EA deadline to be for me and what qualification should i meet to even have a chance? (such as gpa/sat/act)

My deadline was Oct 15. I have a 4.0GPA (unweighted...weighted...I dunno what they do with the GPA, but I had all A's in school, so haha, whatever that comes out to at UGA), 550 Math, 580 Writing, 620 Reading, and I got in EA. Personally, from the stats I've seen in other threads, you should probably shoot for a 4.0. There are people here who had better SATs than I did, but a lower GPA, and didn't get in EA.

They probably also put a lot of emphasis on your courses. My junior year, I took 2 APs and 2 Honors. My senior year, I took 1 AP, 1 Honors, and 2 joint-enrollment college courses (freshman english).

I honestly don't know how I got in EA since my courseload is relatively light compared to other people who applied EA. Everybody should try applying EA anyway. You never know! I was expecting to be deferred.

If you apply by the early action deadline, you won't have to write any essays and you won't have to send in any teacher recommendations (although there will be a counselor recommendation).

It's mostly SAT, GPA, and course load (*).

For SAT, check College Board. If you have scores which place you in the Top 25%, you should be good in this area.

For GPA, I second jenmarie. Your unweighted GPA should be very close to 4.0.

I'm a bit hesitant to talk about course load. My transcript was incorrect when my high school sent it to the admissions office. It was actually kind of suspicious because it showed that I retook two classes. (I didn't.) But, they didn't ask me any questions, and I was admitted early and to the Honors Program.

the above posts are correct. My suggestion is apply to both. do early and then work on the essays and the recs because at my school many people who applied early got deferred and then got in regular admissions.
