Hey Guys-

Do any of you know whom I should speak to about entering the B-School early(i.e. before fall of junior year)? I'm hoping to graduate in 3 years, so I need to start as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Ganesh

It is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED by the advisors at both General College and Kenan-Flagler to enter the B-School before the fall of your Junior year. I don’t know of the official standing, but I am almost certain that the curriculum at the Business School will not allow you enough time to graduate on time if you choose to enter the B-School, for example, in the spring of your Sophomore year.

Just take a few of the core classes before your junior year.

There is something called early admittance to the B-school which means that (provided you keep good grades and take the pre-reqs) you know coming into Carolina as a Freshman that you will be in the B-school starting junior year.

I know at Gillings you can start taking classes early, and maybe with the J-School, but I don’t think it works the same with business. In anycase, for any other them your probably gonna need a full 2 years to get everything done.

I’m a current student, so any freshman programs have already fallen by the wayside:)

When I look at the undergraduate bulletin, it looks like there are 14 courses that need to be taken in the B-School before graduation. In 2 years, the average student takes 20 courses(5 per semester x 4 semesters).

As for entering the B-School early, if you have completed the Gen Ed requirements(which I have) I feel that it shouldn’t be an issue. I’ll keep ya’ll updated on how it goes, so others in my position can use this thread as a reference.

You can definitely take business classes while not in the business school, you will just have to wait until the semester starts and hope they aren’t full.

wooo i got one of the “guaranteed admittance” letters to the B-school a few months ago. siack.
