Early Admission Statistics 2004

Im feeling the pain with u right now, 2 of my best friends were deferred and 1 rejected. thought this might be interesting, EA statistics for THIS year

3931 applicants
16.5% admitted
42.9% deferred
38.4% rejected

is it just me or is the rejected number unusually high?

im sry for all those that were deferred/rejected. but there are many opportunities out there. maybe you would like to check out princeton =P

good luck yall. best wishes

where did you find this info??

shrek...
First of all, congratulations to all those accepted to the class of 2009.

I haven't had a chance to refresh my memory and look at last year's numbers, but off hand, I'd say they were very similar. Yale believes that those who apply early deserve an early decision. So unlike Harvard, which defers many and rejects few, Yale does give a definitive answer, yes or no, to most applicants.

Rejection is tough, and I feel for you. But you know where you stand with Yale and it's time to move on. You will get into college, probaably a very good one. Read the threads from last year. They all did just fine in the end.

If you were deferred, you still have a chance, probably a better one than if you had not applied early. The ultimate acceptance rate for deferred candidates last year was not much less than the early acceptance rate. That's a LOT better than some schools that deferred most kids and significantly better than the acceptance rate for RD or all applicants overall. Still, it's time to make sure you get those other apps out.

yea, where did you find that? It only adds up to 97.8%, where is the rest?

The other 2.2% is probably people who applied early who had incomplete application files and maybe a few rescinded their applications (though I don't know why anyone would).

Congratulations to you, Davidrune, and to all the other accepted applicants. You have a great four years to look forward to.

Thanks a lot Zuma. Your support throughout the EA process was amazing.

haha, dave, since we both got in and we both have the exact same stats (score wise,at least). i think we've found the secret formula to getting in :)

excellent... Are you goig to Yale for sure? Btw, r u doing the chemistry olympiad?

not 100% sure on yale but most likely, i probably will be doing chem olympiad again this year but i've forgotten a lot of my chem, so i'm not even sure if i can make it to the semifinals lol

lol... I want to do it as well. But it follows a different format in Canada, with a lot of take home tests, which I haven't even cracked open yet.

yeah, whered u get the stats? wow, an almost 40% rejection rate...? wow, then my deferral isnt too bad, if thats the case.

Quick Question: When are Acceptees supposed to get the packet in the mail? Like, do they do priority mail or just regular? Congrats to all accepted! Deferees: Hang in there! :)

I found those stats in my Deferred Applicants FAQ page.

it was on the Yale page when u checked for ur decision

I have a random question...does anyone know the accepted/deferred/rejected EA rate from last year? I've been trying to find it, but I haven't had any luck....

Also, a statistic: based on last year's percentage of deferres accepted RD and the number of people deferred this year, 235 deferred people will get in EA. So to my fellow deferrees....there is hope. :)

Last year they accepted 16.6% EA...can't remember the deferral/rejection rates. They were similiar to this year's though...

Also, those who were accepted EA made up 34.4% of the total number accepted.
