Very excited young lady on my hands! As you can see, she applied large, small, public and private, down south and closer to home. So far, 5 for 5. Nice to have choices!

My daughter from NJ was also accepted into Honors last Dec and received another letter the same day stating she qualified for AT LEAST McKissick (instate plus $2000). When she received the official letter in Feb or March, she actually got the Cooper (instate plus $4000). She just finished first semester and couldnt be happier with her college choice!

I just got my acceptance letter today to the school of Engineering & Computing! I was nervous because my dad showed me the envelope, and I was like dad if I got in there should be a chicken that says Yes!. Then he turned it around. yay!

I have a 2030 and a 3.2 UW, but in almost all honors. Lots of good EC stuff. I’m so happy because I got rejected from Vandy ED so now I could potentially go to another SEC school and root against Vandy in everything :D

momoftcm…would you mind posting your daughter’s stats?

Sure!
SAT 1310/2040
ACT composite 31
GPA 97 out of 100 every course offered @ her HS was Honors or dual enrollment so not sure how that works out on a 4 scale
Lots of EC

My daughters application was delayed I’m so stunned any advice

@NJJoey

A neighbor’s daughter has not received anything either as of 12/19. My son two doors away received his early in the week. Both have similar stats, so… Frankly, by this time I would call.

^ NJJoey - When you say “delayed” do you mean “deferred?” Meaning you received your notice but she was deferred? If so, I would look at areas she can improve such as maybe taking the SAT or ACT again (quickly- like in January) and have those scores sent or submit a personal statement, or send in your fall semester grades from this year (assuming they are better) or even call the Admissions office to ask them what you can do to increase your chances of being accepted.

My daughter received her acceptance to USC on Monday, December 16. She has also been accepted at University of Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and two smaller schools. USC has been her first choice since visiting this summer.

My daughter received her acceptance on December 20th. We live in Washington state and the postmark date was December 17th. She had an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and an ACT of 27. She has also been accepted at Auburn and Alabama and was deferred at Elon from Early Action to Regular Decision. Still waiting on decisions from Clemson and TCU.

Not expecting much in terms of merit aid, perhaps a few thousand each year. We shall see. We weren’t sure if this was the acceptance packet until we saw the Gamecock on the back and the large YES.

That packet was so much fun to receive! Especially with what it said on the flap (with the pictures).

But regarding $$, how much DOES USC typically give for scholarships/aid?

My GPA (on a 4.2 weighted scale) is 4.54. My SAT scores weren’t good enough for the Honors Program (1280 CR and Math)- so I was hoping for a University Scholarship and entry into the Capstone Scholars Program. But would my scores be good enough for THAT, even?

Everyone who has questions about their stats should go to the money matter link here:

This gives you the cutoffs for last year’s scholarships so that’s a general idea (they are averages so if you are close to that you are still in the running). It also tells which scholarship reduce OOS tuition and which ones waive it entirely.

Biblio - last year mid range for Capstone was 1290 - 1360 and GPA of 4.3 so you have a shot with a strong GPA.

S rec’d Honors College acceptance on 12/23 and a scholarship notification of in state tuition and for now a certain annual $500 scholarship.

Did anyone that got accepted to honors not get a letter about the Honors Orientation days? I got my acceptance letter on the 23rd, but it said nothing about a separate orientation.

^^There really isn’t a separate orientation day. When you sign up for orientation, the calendar will show which days have honors orientation. They have a section for honors on most days. You go to honors advisement/registration session instead of the session for your major.

There is a separate accepted students days for honors sometime in the spring.

Orientation was probably the wrong word to use. One of my friends received a letter about meeting the faculty of the honors college at a reception. She was given four different days to pick from. Just found it odd she received it the same day as the acceptance/scholarship letter. Thanks for the info though! Some of them might have been delayed for some reason.

Delayed until March we decided to go visit anyway. I did call and they said that they were having processing issues but they still would not send decision until March. This is so frustrating

collegecrazy1996 The invite to the scholars reception was in either the envelope with the honors acceptance or with the scholarship info. The dates on my S letter were on 2 Friday evenings the nights before the admitted students day’s in April. It seems as if it is a 2 hour reception offered to the honors students the night before the admitted students day’s. I am not sure what your friend received.
