My daughter has a 2220/1440 SAT score and a 3.7 GPA and was accepted into the Nursing program. We are from CT and hoping that she is eligible for merit money. As an OOS is there a chance that she would be considered. There was nothing mentioned in her acceptance letter so I’m curious if anyone knows if this means she won’t be considered.

^ murphy1008 - Did your d apply to the honors college? With those stats, I bet she had a good chance at getting accepted. The scholarship-related letters that are going out now (I think) are mostly to those who applied to the honors college. We got one and I assume it was b/c d applied to the honors college. They are not an actual scholarship “commitment” but rather a promise that you’re getting something along with a guarantee of in-state tuition cost. The “real” letters of scholarship commitment won’t go out until March- at least that’s when we got ours last year for my son.

scmom12 posted a good link that explains the scholarship tiers in detail:

I would think your daughter will at least be eligible for the McKissick if not the Cooper- both of which include in-state tuition plus extra.

BTW, my son is in the Nursing program right now (a freshman) and he loves it!

^^ Agree. All honors students are guaranteed some scholarship money and I think that’s why it is mentioned in those acceptances. Final scholarship packages are sent to all students in March. However, if you child is NMF then the Leiber is guaranteed.

My d was deferred and so were the other 3 kids I know who applied. Her stats are fine, this was a little surprising. She wasn’t honors college hopeful, but with a decent gpa, act’s & leadership ec’s, etc I don’t know what the heck happened. All oos from the same area. However I have to say the deferral was a nice letter, but it definitely made her not think of the school as highly now.

^ eyemamom, if you don’t mind my asking, what were your d’s stats? A friend of my d’s was deferred as well (we don’t know her stats) but we’re hoping she’ll get in with regular decision. Maybe she can take the SAT or ACT again (needs to be soon, like Jan.)- just a suggestion if helps?

3.8 gpa 4 ap’s, 6 honors, 27 act. Plus captain of a sports team and officer of a volunteer organization…

My daughter applied after the early action deadline but before regular. I’m not sure why. I think she just wanted to get some of the applications done before all of the regular decision deadlines (she’s applying to 16 colleges). Will they wait to process her application until all of the regular applications are in?

My son was accepted EA and had 26 on ACT, his GPA is 86.75. (Converts to about 3.2) weighted average, 3 APs junior year, 4 APs senior year and mostly honor otherwise. Many ECs (with officer for some), JV for 3 sports and volunteers consistently and works summers

Plus he is out of state, NY.

^ cerj002 - As long as your daughter applied by the Reg.Decision deadline (Dec. 1), then she will receive notice the week of March 10. I don’t think you’ll hear before then because just like EarlyAction, they wait until the week they indicate to send out the notices all at once.

If you don’t mind my saying, 16 colleges sounds a bit extreme. The problem with waiting until Regular decision for many colleges is that you could miss the opportunity for scholarship consideration. Hopefully that’s not the case here, but I know that was the case at other schools my daughter applied to.

December 1, 2013: Regular Application Deadline
To ensure full and equal consideration for the summer or fall 2014 semester, you must submit your application by December 1. Decisions for applications received or postmarked by this date will be released during the week of March 10. Applications received after this date will only receive consideration if space remains available.

My Son was accepted around Jan 28th
SAT: 1330/1920 (not super scored, just took it one time early in his Junior year)
ACT: composite 29 (Ditto)
GPA: 3.21/3.65 (weighted)
NO EC but has taken private Japanese instruction since he was 13

^ @ndabunka - was your son deferred in Early action or did he apply for Regular? Trying to figure out if they are sending out deferral decisions now or are these regular or both. I have a friend whose daughter was deferred (but I’m afraid to ask if she’s heard anything)

Coleman - My son was accepted about the 1st day possible EA so it appears that I mistakenly typed January in the post above when I should have typed December. I did not see this thread until yesterday so that was when I entered his information here in this EA thread.

@coleman4

They are sending regular decision acceptances (but many more are still to come). I received mine this week after applying over a month late (in early January).

According to website, acceptances should go out through mid-March.

To update, d was accepted regular decision. However the delay caused her to reconsider and she’ll be attending elsewhere.

I got my acceptance today in the mail…NH…I was deferred. Now the question is scholarship if any and when and where will I be notified.
