I think one of the reasons why so many people got accepted is because they applied EA or rolling to safety schools.

My son was just received his letter of acceptance this past Friday. (UConn) Although he is pleased that he heard so soon, and is assured admission to this university, we were surprised that no award offers were made. He sent in the application just Nov. 1. This is not a rolling admission university. Does another letter come with offer of awards, scholarship, honors program student? He is a very good student with high SAT, SAT II's and challenging courses throughout high school. Great transcript. We don't know what to expect.

Is your son an athlete?

That doesn't make any sense because UCONN doesn't release EA decisions for quite a while.

UConn website says that they do not reply to EA until about Feb1 (I believe).
He is varsity co-captain but he was not applying for athletic scholarship.
Should I expect another letter to follow?

Applied EA to DePaul and got an acceptance letter only a few days after the deadline (deadline was Nov 15 and I receieved letter Nov 18). However, I'm not going to answer the poll until I hear from UChicago later this week, since DePaul was/is my safety... or can you vote twice?

what is the point of deferment? it seems like people have the opinion that if you are deferred, you are not going to get in later...why not just reject them? (not to be pessimistic...just wondering)

I think it has to do with the fact that they don't know exactly how strong the RD applicant pool will be.

Yes, this poll isn't statistically representative of the general ED/EA population for a variety of reasons. It's just to see how CC members are faring.

i sense someone takes ap stats?

i was thinking the same thing when i saw the poll. voluntary response = bias...

every time i see any sort of graph or table, i immediately start tearing it apart b/c that's what we're trained to do in ap stats...

my daughter was rejected from northwestern early decision

3 more days til Hopkins Judgement Day! lol - i canttt waiiiitt!!

Does anyone have any idea if ED applications are generally up, flat or down this year compared to past years?

son finds out in one hour if ED to Brown is a yes!!!! Wish us luck.

Carleton- Im IN!!! Decisions were mailed on Friday.

Techmom;
Sorry to hear about NW, but I'm sure your D will excel at another great college!
We're waiting to hear also, and have a list of awesome colleges D will apply to if she's not accepted at #1.
The other college choices look awefully good.

Good luck!
RS

Hopefully you received good news!

Yes, my son got accepted to Brown ED. And, would like to give a big shout out to ST, one of the people on CC who helped with his essay-it was well worth the money. Lots of positive feedback, editing etc. and felt that it certainly helped to have a good essay!!!

just a suggestion...i see that you moved the original closing date for the pole to the morning of the 19th, but i know that Grinnell (go Grinnell!) and a couple of other schools do not have decisions to applicants until the 20th...maybe keep it open a day or two longer than the 19th....?

yall are all brilliant that's why

My reply date for Kenyon is the 15th, however, most of the applicants from previous years have noted that they did not receive their letters until around the 20th.

So hopefully this poll is up then when it comes time to announce the news. Whatever it is.
