I have questions about early application to colleges.
Can anybody tell me something about this? Differences between 3 early applications? and what are the schools?
Thanks a lot

I'm not entirely sure I understand your questions, but I'll give it a shot...
There's 3 early "programs" (for lack of a better term) that various colleges offer: Early Decision (ED), Early Action (EA) and Single-Choice Early Action (SCEA)

With all three, generally the deadlines are around Nov 1, and the applicants are notified of the admissions decision around Dec 15.

ED is binding, meaning that you can only apply to 1 school ED, and if accepted, you must rescind any and all other applications, and attend that school, barring any extraordinary financial circumstances.

EA and SCEA are non-binding, so you can still apply to other schools under regular decision, and make a final decision about which school to attend by May 1. With SCEA, you can only apply to one school early (I think you can still apply to schools with rolling decisions though)

Many schools offer one of ED, EA, or SCEA. I think the CollegeBoard college search allows you to search schools based on whether they offer those early programs.

Thank you so much.
And if I want to apply to only one ED school, can I still apply to EA and SCEA schools?

not SCEA, but you can apply to EA schools. just rescind them if you get into ED school

One more monkey wrench - there are some schools, like Georgetown and Boston College, that offer EA, but will not allow you to apply to them EA and anyone else ED. You can still, however, apply to as many other EA schools as you want.

Check the websites of all the schools you're considering to make sure you understand the permutations, combinations and requirements.

thank you so much.
