Hello all,
I have an upcoming interview with a medical school (Drexel College of Medicine) in the upcoming weeks.
I know the general types of questions medical schools will ask an applicant during this kind of interview, however I was wondering if anyone had any extra tips or advice they could provide to me? (I’m not too familiar about the ethical questions portion of the interview, so if someone can provide insight about that, that would be great).
Thank you!
RE: ethics questions
Interviewers are far more interested in the reasoning you use to reach your answers than the “correctness” of the answers themselves. Many times there is no “right” answer. Be sure you explain any assumptions you make and the “whys” behind any ethical/moral positions you take.
Be sure you can answer “Why medicine?”, “Why Drexel?” and speak thoughtfully about your career goals and how you plan to implement them.
Also don’t be surprised if you get thrown some left-field questions. Sometimes interviewers will throw out odd/assertive questions just to see if they can rattle you/get you to lose your cool.
What are some examples of odd questions?
I can think of dozens, but telling you kind of defeats the purpose of asking them----which is gauge how you react to unexpected and/or stressful situations. Also the odd questions are not standard, but are unique to the school/interviewer/interviewee.
