Accepted! :)

I can't say for sure, but you seem to have a really good shot.

thanks for the encouragement- any other opinions- dont be afraid to say i have no chance

id say you have a better than 50% chance of being accepted
you sure have a better chance than me
good luck

is your 4.0 gpa weighted or unweighted?

weighted from the end of jr year- but it should improve once sr year is calculated because of aps- but our school doesnt calculate unweighted- basically ive gotten all as and a-s with one exception

It would be easier to estimate your chances if you could calculate your unweighted GPA. Calculate it like this:
-Use only academic classes from all of your years (except senior)
-A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.4, B = 3 and so on
-Class levels dont matter
That would give people responding (and you) a better idea of your chances

And if your school doesn't do minuses, A = 4.0, B+ = 3.5, B = 3.0, C+ = 2.5, etc.

If it doesn't do pluses or minuses, then generally A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0. Be sure to tell us if that's the case.

I dont have my transcript right now to recalculate it... should be around 3.8, 3.9, because all as and a- with one b+. but im definitely in top 10% because I got cum laude. also, just to reemphasize the competitiveness of my school, out of 50 boys and girls last year- 2 stanford, 1 harvard, 1 princeton, and none of those were legacies or sports. last year, two applied and got in and chose princeton and harvard over duke so ive been told that i may have an increased chance, as no one from my school has ever gone, and my early decision app binds me to go. also, i live in a very wealthy area, and im not applying for financial aid. i just wanted to put it all out there- what do you think? any changed opinions?

anyone out there??

People being accepted from your school and not attending does not increase your chances.

Same for every other ED applicant, yet most will be deferred or rejected.

Good for you I guess, but Duke's need-blind, so that doesn't matter.

I'd say you have a good shot overall, but none of the above will help.

please dont think i meant that last thing in a mean way- im just wondering if being from a wealthy area will hurt or help me- im not particularaly wealthy

I know you weren't being mean. I was just pointing out the three parts of your post where it seemed like you thought you'd be getting an advantage where none exists.

Like I said, income will neither help nor hurt you. The only exception is for those that are super-rich and could be a potential "development" admit, or those that are quite poor and could boost socioeconomic diversity.

okay- thanks so much. i didnt think they would help much but just wanted to get a few opinions so thank you

4 going to harvard, princeton, stanford is competitive? not to sound like a di*k or anything but over 70 kids in the grade last year went to ivy league. this is a class of 200 btw lol
