Early Deciding northwestern..any CHANCE?!!!

Firstly, I am studying IB diploma in Hong Kong as a senior.
I am deciding whether I should go for ED Northwestern. since it is SO competitive.

My SAT is CR 550 Maths 790 Writing 600
My SAT2s are .Maths Physics and chem..three of them are 800

I did nothing too special in school, except this summer
I went to Stanford Summer college and did something about Chemistry... I love music a lot and I got quite a number of diploma for vocal and piano playing.

What do u think ?! Am I qualified to be in the ED pool??

It depends a lot on your financial need. Are you applying for financial aid?

Any chance you could tell us your GPA? That would make things easier.

But based on what you have here, your SAT is just too low. A 550 CR score isn't going to cut it, especially if you're an international. Your ECs aren't very significant either.

Nah..I am not applying financial aid..

My GPA?!
I have IB cirriculum..so in terms of that I will get 42/45 in total by the end.
I scored over 90% for Maths Physics and chemistry in my report..
sigh..but I am not a very tech-nie person actually...

I wished I could get into Northwestern..it's my dream school ><"

I'm more optimistic than Polkahard. Since all your other scores are so high, it could be argued that your low CR and writing scores are due to the fact that you're not a native English speaker, and your English skills would improve dramatically once you appear on campus. Could you study for the TOEFL and get a high score to improve your profile?
I think you should apply, especially if you don't need aid. You're definitely qualified.

I don't know...I mean, I can understand where you're coming from. But the fact that he's international makes it that much more difficult--when there's tons of international applicants WITH the CR and writing scores. Your math/physics/chem scores are certainly fantastic, so I don't want to take that away from you.

Yo!
Thanks..I am soooo enlightened now XD
I mean..I feel much more confident..

LOL.I am taking my Oct SAT1 again
..practice makes perfect ..SO I think I will get more than 620 for CR!!!

I did TOEFL..still hvn't get my score back
I scored 267 two years ago on CBT

I pretty much agree with the others. That is, you would have an excellent chance if you could get the SAT CR score above 600 or so (maybe at 620 or above would do it). Perfect SAT II scores in three areas plus a strong showing in a total IB program would make you look very competitive.

Don't forget, however, that Northwestern will also want to know what other extracurricular activities you did--did you work? do competions in sports or music or academics (math/science)? do community service projects for others in your community? You will need to show interests outside of the classroom to have a chance to get into Northwestern.

Best of luck to you.
