Early Decision 1 Notification?

Does anyone know if the e-mail goes out on December 15th or if that's the latest we'll find out? The anticipation is killing me!

Last year emails went out on December 8th with instructions to log onto the Activity Center on December 9th. (Earlier than expected). Letters were mailed out on December 10th. I think they are purposely vague in case they run into delays, especially with ever increasing numbers of apps to evaluate.

Good luck to you, Hopkins 15!

Really? That’s great - the sooner the better.

Also, if I recall correctly, last year there was an increase in the number of applicants for Early Decision (1600 for ED1). However, the school stated that it would only accept the same number of ED applicants it did in the previous year (900 for both ED1 and ED2). This led to Early Decision actually being a harder admit than Regular Decision. Was this actually the case/if so, will it happen again this year, particularly considering the ~18% rise in Early Decision applicants?

I applied ED 1 as well, and i’m beginning to freak. Everyone I have heard from says that they heard on Dec. 9th in the afternoon! My advice is to try to think about everything but GW this week! Hopefully see you there!

I’m so nervous!

I am so nervous too!

Do they usually email and then post the decisions online the next day?

And when they post them, do they just post “accepted or rejected” ?

Good luck to all of you! I remember my d being exactly where you are, a year ago. I don’t think she slept for a week. They sent out the emails a day earlier, and she never got an email. That totally freaked her out, everyone else she knew had gotten one. The decisions went up at 6, and the system was congested. You had to watch that little swirl go around and around for endless minutes. I remember her joy when she saw the acceptance. It was something nice, more than just “accepted”. I hope you all see the same message!

@ lightmom: Which dorm is your d living in and how does she like it there? Pros/cons, any comments, etc?

So will they send you an email the day before the email goes out saying if you got accepted or not?

You will get an email telling you when you can log onto the Admissions Activity Center. (same place where you are currently checking your application status). The email usually goes out the day before they post the decisions online. Typically they post the decisions at 6pm Eastern Time on the given day. Even if you don’t get an email, you can still log on at the designated time. You will know about it because I’m sure people will start posting on CC. The letters/packets take a while to arrive by snail mail.
Good luck to everyone! I suspect you will have your answer this week.

I thought we would’ve gotten the email by now since it was sent out yesterday last year. I guess we all have to wait more :(

Yeah I was hoping they would match the date they had last year, but with so many more ED1 applicants I suppose it was too much of a stretch.

that Early Decisions will be out tomorrow night (12/10) on the application status page after 6:00 p.m.! Good luck everyone!

I just got the email also regarding admission decisions. It will be posted tomorrow at 6 pm EST. Good luck to all of us :D

My D heard on 12/10/08 for her year. She is a Soph. now and loves it. Good luck to all of you!!! My other D is hoping for good news from Northeastern in the next few days. She will apply RD to GW.

I got the email too!!! I’m so nervous guys I’m probably not going to be able to sleep!

I’m a GW freshman. Applied ED I last year. Good luck guys =]

What were your stats?

I got the email too… Soo nervous!!!

Dana1393, she is in Potomac and loves it. That is a big perk of ED, you get first shot at dorms, with ED1 first, followed by ED2 and then RD. I believe Potomac is pretty much ALL EDers this year, since it was the first choice of many. It is a nice dorm if you want to be at Foggy Bottom and not in Thurston, which is right across the street.
