Early Decision academics

Aside from the wording in the acceptance letter, does anyone know the academic level that must be maintained to retain admission?

hahahaha...i was just wondering the same thing....

Not that I am planning on dramatically slacking off or by any means purposefully letting my grades drop, but it would help with peace of mind.

p.s. Does anyone know of anyone (at any school) who had admission rescinded after letting grades fall?

Yes, but it was a very extreme case.

My friend's cousin got into Yale but was rescinded after failing a class.

Ahh that's rough...let's hope none of us fail

Studying in Bowdoin , the chance of rescind seems to be higher >.< Bowdoin is the school for B. However, i want to study in Bowdoin :X::XX no matter what everything will be :P Worry to death about my application

I think you misunderstood, icandoit. I am not referring to the rigor of Bowdoin's academics, rather their tolerance for declining grades after receiving admittance early.

a guy at my school got into Claremont Mckenna and he slacked off the rest of senior year and Claremont recinded.
And yeah, i was thinking the same thing too. I mean I still care about school, but it would be nice to know that I can keep the (terrible) grades I sent Bowdoin for mid-semester and still keep my admission

For me it is a pride thing i think....haha
idk....like i am already slacking off big time but i still want to keep good grades just for personal pride.
I am thinking that if u fail a class...or like go from As and Bs to all Cs and like some Ds it would be good....

"Aside from the wording in the acceptance letter, does anyone know the academic level that must be maintained to retain admission?"

In my letter last year, the Adcom wrote: "It is important for you to know that your Early Decision admission is granted with the condition that you remain in good academic and social standing at your school, and that you maintain throughout the year the superior academic achievement that earned your acceptance at this early stage."

Basically, just try to maintain good grades. A GPA drop greater than .5 and/or a failed class raises some serious questions. I doubt that you will happen to you though. Once again, don't worry about this.

ah, sorry, i must have misunderstood :)

Thanks Boston...only a drop of .5 seems pretty tight, but oh well ive made it this far
