Early Decision/Action help

im a high school junior and my gpa isnt too great but i want to go to very competetive schools. my freshman year weighted gpa is 3.7 (unweighted is same, no honors or APs), my soph year gpa is 4.17 weighted 3.86 uw and my junior year is a 4.65 weighted 4.0 uw. should i apply ed/ea to competitive schools or hold off to show that i am improving because my senior year gpa will be around 4.8ish and 4.0 (hopefully). what should i do?

First of all, DO NOT apply ED to a school unless you are 110% sure that if you are admitted, you will go there. Compare your GPA and SAT/ACT scores to those colleges. If you fall within their average range, applying early should be okay. Keep in mind that many “competitive schools,” as you put it, have early application deadlines and might even have rolling admission, where they admit people as they apply (so the longer you wait, the fewer spots that will be left).

@danapearl‌ thanks for responding and my GPA is lower than the average accepted in most of the colleges. i want to apply ea to MIT because i would go there in a heartbeat. but would my chances be lower if i applied early considering my gpa is lower than average (considerably)?
