Early decision (and early decision 2)

Any prospective Early Decisioners up here? I was wondering if the myth of acceptance boost really exist. For example, AU will boost their acceptance rate from about 30% to 80% if you apply early decision. Also, is it true that theres essentially NO difference at all between early decision 1 and early decision 2??

I submitted my ED I last night!
I’ve always wondered if there’s a “boost” from the acceptance rate. I think that this theoretical boost comes from the fact that applying ED = Demonstrated Interest, ~but also comes from stronger students tending to apply ED, vs waiting the extra semester. I’d be curious to see the differences in admissions statistics from ED to RD (Avg. GPA, SAT, ACT, etc…) Any insights?

The emoji on my first post looks a bit more “psychotic” than I’d intended… Let’s try this:

Yea man!, this previous spring break i drove from nc to dc and stopped AU for a quick tour and the tour guide lady gave a presentation and mentioned the rate boost, though I just wanted some more assurance on the veracity of this “boost”. and congrats on ED submission yo! im still debating whether to do AU ED2 or not, and thats only because of the tiny chance I might have at getting into georgetown. (as in if I get into both georgetown and AU then I must attend AU if I applied ED, hence closing my other school options) @thchaffman

@konniiyhuwen No way I’m from NC too (Charlotte)! Personally I really had to weigh my options. I’ve always loved Georgetown, but long term, I truly believe AU would be a better option for me in academia and general student culture. I wish you the best of luck should you decide to pursue GTU!

Thanks for the support man! I’d be equally content whether I got into AU or GT. and since the chances for AU ED are super high, we’ll prob most likely be attending AU next fall. Best Wishes! @thchaffman

Hey I applied ED1 too for the fall 2016 semester

Seriously hope I get in my stats aren’t as good as most of the others! I’m hoping that my essay demonstrated enough interest to get in!

And yeah does it really exist? The boost in acceptance rate?

The results are only out next month on the thirtieth sadly:(

Good luck to all you guyss

cool! yes the boost in rate is more than likely true. @Senior1098
