Early Decision and Major/Program

So recently I’ve been thinking about what I want to do in college, and it really comes down to a variety of things.

I mainly wanted to do Architecture, but ultimately am interested in things like Civil Engineering and Political Science too. With a plan to apply to Northeastern via Early Decision I with the intent to join the Architecture program, what would happen if I get accepted to Northeastern but not their Architecture program? Is that even a possibility?

I’m not asking this just about Northeastern, but all colleges. Is it basically universal that, if I apply to an Architecture program but don’t get in that I’ll still be considered for admissions to the general college?

Thanks for reading all that lol.

The following depend on the university, so ask directly:

A. Does the university admit by major?
B. If you are not admitted to the major, could you be admitted to the university?
C. If you are admitted to the university but not the major, how difficult is it to change into the major after enrolling?
D. If you are admitted to the university but not the major, would ED still be binding?

Thank you!

I’ll definitely make sure to reach out to my schools. Hopefully, I can still be admitted to them without being admitted to the major.
