Early Decision and Regular decision simultaneously

Can I apply to regular decision schools when my early decision notification hasn't been released yet?

Yes. If you are admitted to the ED school you will just notify the RD schools and withdraw your applications. So in the interest of potentially not wasting the application fees, you may choose, since ED is getting close, to not submit them yet.

Yes. However, if you are accepted ED and barring some unforeseen issues with FA, you would need to withdraw your RD applications.

Yes. D has an ED1 app pending. In the meanwhile, she has applied RD to several schools, especially ones where there were 12/1 deadlines for merit aid. We have a few more applications that are completely ready to submit if she is rejected/deferred. I think the important thing is to be fully prepared for what you’ll do if you’re not admitted ED. Should I assume from your username that you are an international applicant? For us, the ED decision comes during Finals week, which is also the last week of school before Winter Break, when the school offices will be closed. So we didn’t want to be scrambling for LOR’s, transcripts, score reports etc between Dec. 16-19.
