Early Decision: anyone hear yet?

Has anyone gotten in ED? May I ask what your stats were? Have you heard anything about financial aid/merit awards? My daughter might be interested in applying to UD next fall. Thanks a lot!

My D got in ED. GPA 3.65 and a 1980 SAT score (R-670 M-630 W-680).
We think great essay and a variety of balanced activities, but not too many. We didn't get any aid/awards, but that doesn't mean you won't.
I answered what I knew about scholarships in the other thread.
There haven't been many posts here lately and no one else has mentioned getting in ED....Anybody else out there??

Thanks for your response! Congratulations to your D! Should be eligible for some kind of $$ w/scores and gpa, I would think...Competition must be strong for $$........

Does that mean if you apply ED that you won't be offered any merit scholarships with the admission acceptance letter?

I'm not sure about that. The package had a letter saying that every student admitted ED was reviewed for scholarships. If D qualified for one or need based aid it would have been in the admission packet. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed! Obviously if this is a major concern, going ED might not be right for you since it does eliminate your chances of accepting merit from other schools. My D also got into UVM which did offer her a minor scholarship, but UD was her first choice and still considerably cheaper without the merit aid

When my D and I attended the open house for hs jrs in Dec, we went to a financial aid forum. The group of mostly parents were told that if your child didn't get $ or you wanted to pursue the $ issue further - wait until May and contact the financial aid office. Remember, some students who were awarded $ may not attend...so there might be some $ left. It's worth a try...Hope this helps....At the very least, there might be loan $ available...
