Greetings to all Early Decision Applicants :)

Can I request all those who have decided to apply for early decision to leave a comment over this thread, so that we can network and interact to solve our numerous questions!!

Would an early decision with a SAT score around 1800 lower my chances at MOHO? Also, I am an international student and would be asking for 50% FA.
Please help!

or should I apply regular decision in January since I’d be taking the SAT again in december and planning to increase my score.
Thanks!

MHC always promises that the ED1 decisions will be released electronically (to ISIS) by January 1. However, over the past 2 years, the decisions have come out before Christmas, and, I think, by the end of the previous week, and usually at the very end of the day, i.e, after 6PM MHC local time. So, ED1ers, beginning next week, start checking your e-mail for a message that your “Admission decision is available on ISIS”. Good luck. My D was an ED1 acceptee, and that made Christmas a relaxed time for all of us, especially D since she did not have to prepare another 10 applications by January 1!

I’m an international ED applicant from Korea, and I’m a bit worried about the amount of financial aid I asked for… it’s a little over 50%.
Will this decrease my chances of getting in?

Even I need generous financial aid. I will be grateful if anyone can put some insight to financial aid aspect! Does Mount Holyoke reject application just because of financial status of applicant’s family?
Thanks!

I was also deferred. :’(
I’m trying not to be TOO devastated… But this is my dream school. And now I have to wait months longer as well as apply to others. Not knowing is the worst part. I don’t want to hold onto false hope that I may have a chance to get in, but it’s impossible not to hope now.

Do you think they are on the edge about me and just want to see semester grades before making a decision?
Or do they not reject many ED applicants -just defer us and reject us later?

Congrats to everyone who got in - so happy for you!

@jportman : So happy for you Congratulations!! How much financial aid had you asked for?

@barefootJ : I am sure they deferred me because I needed financial aid and finally they are going to reject me. I am very much confident about myself and I believe my application must be an outstanding one. I applied to Mount Holyoke as I am a feminist and I wanted to be at a women college. I love Mount Holyoke as well but this is simply ridiculous to get rejected due to financial problem. I needed almost 95% percent aid. Anyways, all the very best to you. Hope things turn out in our favor.

@Pripan : Thank you so much I’m an international student and I need quite a lot of aid. I got 36.5k/year, which is what I asked for.

@Pripan and @barefootJ : Even though MoHo might be your first choice now, I’m sure no matter where you end up, you’d have a great time. Be prepared to apply to other schools, but don’t give up hope yet, you’ll never know how it might turn out :)

I got accepted!! MoHo was my first choice. I got 50% financial aid which really helped. I am so excited!!! I had a 28 on my ACT and had all AP and Honors classes with amazing letters of recommendations. @barefootj dont lose hope, you will find an amazing college if for some reason MoHo says no. Good luck (:
