FYI, 599 applicants to Bowdoin in the ED 1 pool this year. A record number for the school, but only a few more than last year. The comments by the Dean of Admissions in the article below are quite interesting and informative.

It’s Dec 8 for Middlebury – since NESCAC’s tend to do things at roughly the same time, it could be at about the same time, give or take a day or two . .

when we went through this process it was difficult b/c many of my son’s friends received their decisions the first week of december and bowdoin was much, much, later. i think it was around the 15th, or maybe even later. be patient. they have their way of doing things and it is thorough and respectful, if a bit slower.

I never thought I would apply ED to any school because I wanted options, even though Bowdoin had been my favorite all along. I went to Explore Bowdoin and confirmed everything I loved about Bowdoin. In fact, I loved it so much I went back again on an east coast college trip, after 2 weeks. After seeing some other schools and spending more time at Bowdoin, I realized that I could not be happier at anywhere else, and Bowdoin was everything that I ever wanted in a college. The decision to apply ED was probably one of the hardest decisions I had to make. Although initially, I faced oppositions from others as well as my own uncertainty, I am very very happy with my decision. Bowdoin is simply the perfect school for me.

Allaboutbooks – Middlebury tells the ED applicants exactly when they can expect to hear so there is discussion on the Middlebury page of the Dec 8 date. Middlebury has an on-line system of informing its applicants so it is somewhat different than Bowdoin but, if I’m remembering past years correctly, I think that the Bowdoin decisions are typically mailed out within a day or two of the release of the Middlebury decisions.

Last year on December 13 on the Bowdoin College Admission Facebook page they posted that the decisions were being mailed that day. S’s decision arrived on December 17. Best wishes to all of you during this time of waiting!

omg I’m so anxious right now… What about international applicants like me? Is it possible that we will receive our decisions after a few days from yours?

College_query is correct as to last year’s Dec 13 date for ED decisions but that was a break from prior years in which the the decisions were mailed out about a week earlier (more like around Dec 8). So it’s hard to say whether last year was aberrational as to the late date or whether it is the start of a new pattern . .

The article regarding ED 1 applicants in the Bowdoin Orient newspaper has been updated to reflect the fact that 606 applicants have been received – about 10 more than last year. Good luck to all!

I live in the middle of the US, but remember last year international students receiving their decision via email, followed by fedex. My family moved to Pakistan when I was 5 and I lived there for 6 years before returning to the US, and a girl from Pakistan was admitted.
