I'm just wondering, are Early Decision applicants even considered for merit aid? I understand that if financials where going to be a problem then i shouldn't have applied ED, but there are no financial problems.

I was just wondering if it's still possible or if they are reserved for the perfect scores/perfect GPA students who apply regular decision?

I’ve been wondering along these lines, myself. I think applying early decision kind of eliminates or at least greatly reduces your chance for merit aid, because they already know they have you, so why spend extra money on you?

It’s a shame how much an education costs these days. It makes me wanna move to Europe.

I don’t actually know, but I’d be greatly surprised if Saman’s answer is wrong.

Most colleges and universities use merit aid to entice students they want to enroll there instead of going somewhere else. But if you have applied ED–especially if you have applied ED without applying for need-based aid–they have no reason to entice you. If they want you, all they have to do is admit you, and they’ve got you.
