@rmsdad I sent an email and they uploaded the scores today! Thanks
I’m an Indian international ED applicant and i’ve seen both my October SAT and November SAT 2 scores appear on the ACData website. I hope everyone’s scores are there by now…
I was just wondering, will we get the admission decision email suddenly out of the blue around the decision date or will we be notified a few days prior to that about the exact time when the decisions will be released? Coz I don’t want to check my email just like everyday and suddenly get to see the decision and miss the chance to record my reaction in a video!!
@extremus When did you send your November ones?? For some reason, the fact that my scores don’t show up on my AC data really worries me…
@Jenni7298 I chose to send them as soon as they are available. And, oddly enough, the Collegeboard website shows that they were sent on 23rd november, which is one day before the results were released online on the site, which was 24th November.
And I was surprised to recieve a mail from one of the colleges that I sent my scores to that they have recieved it one day before I came to know about them on the Collegeboard site. By the way, I got 800 on math L2 and 780 on Physics. The only part that worries me in my application is the measly 1900 on my SAT. My academics and ECs are very strong with great letters or recommendation and essays, but the SAT worries me.
@extremus Congrats on your math and physics scores! They’re really impressive - I barely managed to finish my math 2 C haha. Your SATs might be on the lower end, but your GPA might make up for it as well as your essay. Do you have any hooks? Those would definitely help.
well, i’m from really low income family, i’m first generation, I’m applying for Computer Science (Amherst’s president said they want low income first gen students in STEM fields, so maybe that’s a small advantage for me), I’m and international ED applicant, so maybe they’ll take for a ‘‘confirmed’’ student from India to foster diversity. And I’m a state topper in 3 exams, International rank 19 in another exam, and a winner for ‘‘best country profile’’ in an MUN held at a South-Asia level. All this along with 1 or 2 more major achievements. This makes me a little positive on my acceptance, but then I think about my SAT and feel really bad.
a few typos here and there, but I’m on an old Qwerty phone, so, can’t manage typing fast here…
@extremus Hey, those are great advantages over there! Don’t cut yourself short, especially with those international/national rankings! I’ve got okay SAT scores and grades, but I don’t have that many hooks tbh. I’m East Asian, my parents are middle income, not first gen, and I have no national rankings(then again, Saudi Arabia doesn’t really offer that many…). I’d say you have a better chance than I do even. My SAT scores and grades might be above the Amherst average, but there’s tons of students who have better scores than I do. What the college wants is someone unique and passionate, so if you can pull that off, you might have a better chance than you’d think.
Just wondering, but do you have any other schools you have in consideration?
@Jenni7298 , I want to study Computer Science in a liberal arts environment, so I’m considering Colagte University, Colby College, Dartmouth College, Franklin and Marshall College and Grinnell College. I think I mispelled ‘‘Grinnell’’
But all of that’s after Amherst’s decision!
The major problem with my SAT score is that the CR score is just 510 . I’ve got 700 on math and 690 on writing, which are still low, but not so pathetic as my reading score. I didn’t have any book for practice as I couldn’t afford them, and no student from my school has ever given the SAT, so no suport either. I just knew the format and had some basic practice from the internet. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t score…
@extremus Ooh, that’s got to be tough being the only one to do the SAT. Yeah, for critical reading, practice is really important. Did you take the toefl test though? All international students are required to take it unless they get over 700(I think) in CR.
It’s great that you have so many colleges in mind too, btw! Good luck - hopefully we both get in.
@Jenni7298 , I took the IELTS and got a score of 8.0 bands out of 9.0 . Amherst’s recommended score is 7.5. So, english proficiency isn’t a problem. Plus, my education has been in english from the start, so IELTS was technically not even required.
I’d wanna meet you there next fall! You seem to be cool.
@Jenni7298 , which country are you from?
Meh. Y’all speculate speciously. @extremus Hopefully they’ll find you arrogant and presumptuous from your application.
@antogyr , I don’t know what I did to make you feel that way, but can you elaborate on that? So I may know what mistakes I’ve made on my application…
@extremus you are doing fine, please don’t worry about your app or @antogyr’s comment! Good luck all!
thanks @michigandermom , your comment makes me feel a little bit relieved. I was worried if I had made a huge mistake in my application after @antogyr’s comment
I’m kind of late to the party since I’m a Questbridge finalist doing ED but hi guys I’m in love with Amherst
you’re welcome here @YoAdriaaaaan…
hey everybody, I have a problem. My counselor submitted my midyear report about 3 days ago but it’s still not showing up on the ACData website. Am I supposed to wait more? How much time does it take to show up there…?
Should I be worried? Is anyone else having this problem?
@YoAdriaaaaan Hey lol, Same here. Amherst =
