Does anyone know how strict or lenient Tufts is with going over the word count. Because for the 200-word responses, I have gone approximately 50 words over. Has any Early Decision Applicants who have gotten admitted done this and still got in?

Much help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they won't care as the practicality of it is mainly to ensure that the office doesn't have to read pages upon pages of supplementals. They simply don't have time to count every single word to make sure you didn't go over by 50 words or so. If you must, take the liberty to make your response thorough. Sometimes more is less.

^ Yep. Also, I just got accepted ED I, and my "optional" essay, although I have heard was supposed to be ~500 words, was 825+ ...so yeah, don't think they'll mind about 50 words over if it's necessary to the essay.

hey...you probably dont know the answer to this but maybe you can give me some advice

you probably know im doing early decision2 and the decision comes out before our midterm reports do....so i was wondering if you think i should send tufts my first mp report card...im taking 4 AP classes and 1 honors and got 4 As and 1 B...or should i call them first to see if they want it? or am i better of not sending it at all?

In my opinion, If you performed well compared to your previous academic performance, send the grades. I applied ED I, had my guidance counselor send my first quarter grades, and was later accepted. If nothing else, sending your grades shows further interest in Tufts. At best it also shows that you are rockin' during senior year when many students tend to slack off.

did you send some explanation with your report card...or did you just send/fax them a copy?

I just had my guidance counselor call my local admissions rep and read her the grades as well as an activity resume addendum.

I'm kind of new with this whole message board concept. But I was just wondering what are the chances of getting into Tufts if you were deferred during the Early Decision round? If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

morgan, def. send it!
