Early Decision Apps up 21%

****...this sucks

I guess it also remains to be seen if the increase is in competitive applicants or not. I mean, if they got tons of apps cuz of recruiting efforts, maybe some of the apps are not competitive ones.

collegecountdown... a lot of recruiting apps wouldn't be good either right? because recruited athletes often apply to Wharton and get in! :(

Sorry, I didn't mean athletic recruits - just marketing to increase applications from ppl in different regions of the country and internationally - which they did ALL OUT this year, since they were so afraid of reduced international apps. due to political reasons.

ughhh whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... lol no surprises now... can i say "rejected"? yeah. i can :(

i ditto that times infinitiy

AHHHHHH!!!!! does anyone know if they released the number of ppl who applied to the joint programs? like Hunstman?

yeah, that and the number of students from specific states who apllied early??? (not the big ones like texas and cali--unless those states they listed in the article has the most ED applicants)

does anyone know if the Engineering School will expand? i mean they have to with the 42 percent increase right?

yeah the 42% increase for seas is fantastic

Isn't UPenn already struggling with housing issues? I don't seen an expansion in its future :p

Fantastic?...not fantastic to those applying to SEAS...what the hell...SEAS is supposed to be less competetive...that 42% increase can blow me

they been talking about expansion for years right? when the f uck are they gonna do it? megamike, as a current engineering student, offer some constructive opinions.

it is fantastic for the program
it needs to increase in the rankings

to put penn engineering on the map, they have to make it BIGGER, period!

Also, no way to know if some of the ED apps came from what normally would be RD people. So, total apps may not be affected to that level, but we don't know that yet. But it doesn't matter, because ED ppl will take the entire hit for this one - % of class taken ED is not changing. :(

pimpthatthang - I can't imagine the size of the schools will change. In fact, because of the high yield they had last year, Penn was talking about reducing, not increasing class size.

don't tell me your tiny a ss s hit can compete with any big time program.

collegecountdown, all we know is that the admission process just got 21% tougher!

this is a bunch of bulls hit. it just had to be this year. f uck. hope they actually expand their puny engineering school so it can be ranked at least.

my program (mse) is growing big time, but still less than 100 total students
I am not sure more people is better
