I’m currently looking to schedule my audition for Tisch and LA was an option for one of the locations. Can you go to LA for an Early Decision audition for Tisch or would you have to go to NYU? Just wondering because LA would have been more convenient but either one, we will do.
@miavictoria, there are no ED nor ED2 auditions in any location other than New York.
There are LA auditions for regular decision candidates in early February.
Link to that information is here: https://tisch.nyu.edu/drama/admissions/how-to-apply/deadlines
My D did her artistic review in Chicago at the same time as those unified auditions (around 1st week of February in 2014) She, and other kids there were asked if they wanted to essentially “upgrade” to EDII (which notified on few 15th) She did not, but two of her friends did. One was MT only, so when he was admitted he knew his studio. The other was open to all studios, and didn’t find out her placement until April. (She ended up in Meisner) Both were full pay students. NYU is not known for generous aide…but as I understand it they are even LESS generous with ED. Btw- all students in above scenario had already applied to the school etc. I think the main problem you would have with auditioning in LA is that it is after either of the ED notification dates
I would never apply NYU ED (1 or 2) unless I knew for sure it was the school above all others I wanted and you were willing to roll the dice on the money or lack there of which suggests you have it. I really don’t think it helps up your odds of admission for Tisch much at all or if at all. Mainly ED at Tisch Drama is just a way to settle where you are going to college early for those that know it is what they want and that they are willing to pay for it no matter what. Otherwise… why?
I completely agree
