Early Decision @ Case

Anyone applying ED for Fall 2019 at Case, please use this as a discussion page. Post stats, etc.

At CWRU you would get the same consideration for merit money as you would if you applied EA or RD.

My son applied for ED

GPA 3.78 unweighted
ACT 29
2 AP classes this year
3 college classes while doing senior year
Eagle Scout
Summer job with the school district

hey! I am a current freshman who got in ED. If you have any questions just let me know!

@laly84100. Do you mind sharing what your stats were?

@amanwithadream Here are results from last year if you want to compare http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/case-western-reserve-university/2039096-case-western-class-of-2022-ea-thread-p22.html

I am applying ED

Any idea when decision will come out ? 17th or sooner.

On the EA thread someone mentioned they called this morning and was told “next week sometime.”

I applied EA. Here are my stats: (please take them with a grain of salt. I’m honestly worried that I might be rejected if they care about yield rate).

Another thing I’m worried about is that I didn’t show interest at all LOL…

I have heard that showing interest is a huge consideration for Case ?

Exactly… That’s why I am very worried

@Bishoptoaster how many backups do you have?

Actually if you look at the Common Data Set it says interest is “considered”…have you toured? have you signed up to be on their email list and opened the email? Have gone to a college fair and sent in a post card?

@bopper I wasn’t able to tour because it’s way too far away from where I live (Missouri). The only thing I did to show some interest was to sign up for an alumni interview, but I haven’t heard back since I requested.

@amanwithadream I had a 33 ACT. 4.46 GPA. Got a couple fives and threes with APs. Did clubs and volunteering but nothing excessive. While female. Did an interview. I applied ED. I received a merit scholarship for half tuition. Sorry I was so late with this. Just finished up finals.

@bopper - I’m taking some relief from your last post - my son did sign up for info on the website, attended a session at his high school and we also went to a session at a hotel in a town 30 mins from our house this past summer. Just didn’t have the time or $ to spare to visit a campus without knowing if it was a real option for him. Soooo anxious for my son tonight - he’ll either run down to share the great new or - what? Crickets? Do we wait and let him come to us? There is nothing in the parenting manual about how to handle this!

@Bishoptoaster I assume you read their emails? Case, like other colleges, can tell if you read the email so that is a way to show interest. I also assume you signed up to receive info.

@bopper Yes I’ve read their emails, although they have not sent me many emails. I am not sure if I signed up to receive info… I’m just hoping that they won’t take interest too much into account.
