bump?

You have great activities and outside interests, so be sure to play that up well on your essays. You didn’t mention your AP scores, but hopefully they are all fours and fives.

My only real concern is with your ACT score which puts you in the bottom 25% of admitted students.
If you can give your essays everything you’ve got your chances will be good.

Yeah I think @ScienceGirlMom is pretty right. If you have questions about essay writing, I would start by reading what I just commented in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/1821022-what-are-some-things-i-can-do-too-boost-my-odds-of-getting-into-rice.html#latest

AP scores that I have already taken are both 4s

Your GPA and ACT are low for Rice.

Thank you for your honest opinion @ClarinetDad16

I would agree with the ACT evaluation, but the GPA seems fine, especially if you get good AP test scores I think

40% of the class that actually entered in 2015 (class of 2019) had a perfect 4.0 GPA. A 3.6 is definitely on the low end. That said, rigor of course work, an upward trend and the quality of the high school might be mitigating factors. If you look through last year’s RD Results thread, you can draw your own conclusions.

Maybe take some MOOC’s, come out with perfect grades, to show motivation and academic interest as well as ability to do well?
