Hello everyone I hope I'm not taking too much time out of your day to read this or even bother with this message but I was hoping to request your help.

I am a current senior who is seriously considering applying to W&M for ED. This school is one of my top choices and I have been smitten with the school for a long time. This is definitely my top choice with the University of Richmond very close behind. I'm also seriously considering American University as well and I have been looking at some other more safe schools.

For Demographic location I am from Northern New Jersey, typically where public education standards are considered higher than other areas or out of state.

I want to study political science ( or in the W&M choice of majors this corresponds to government) and I also have a passion for conservation and ecological sciences.

I am white, 18, and my GPA is 3.52 on the weighted 4.0 scale my school uses (public). No gym or lower level courses are factored in so it is a bit strange. My school does not publish rankings nor does it do unweighted GPA but I assume I am in at least the top 25% if not 10% of my class.

For Course load I took 1 honors Frosh year: world civilizations, 1 AP Us history 1 and honors english Soph year, honors biology AP US2 and AP English Junior year, and this year for my senior year I take Italian 4 Honors Economics AP Modern European History AP English 4AP and Psychology AP. Note this includes just my honors classes not my other classes that are at CPE (college prep enhanced). My school has CP, CPE, honors, and AP available though it varies per class.

For Award/Honors: I get honor each marking period and semester. Also I am an "AP" scholar, and was invited to go on the RYLA trip at camp Indian Head Pennsylvania but couldn't go due to AP tests and several track meets. I was also invited to join some NSHSS ( National society of high school scholars), I don't know if that is worth anything. Unfortunately not in NHS :(

For Test scores I plan on using my ACT which is a 29. SAT subject scores are 760 in US History and 700 in World History (a course I havent taken in 3 years). Also for AP scores I got a 4 on US History, 3 on English (ehh), and a 4 on US government, a class that my school does not offer.

In terms of Athletics I have been involved for a very long time. Started running track with a small club back in 3rd grade which gradually blossomed into the love for the sport that I have now. I am a varsity captain on my team and I compete all 3 seasons of the year (though track is way cooler than XC). I'm hoping that If I get in I could run for the school. For you fellow track people out there I ran a 49.7 in the 400m outdoors, 2:01 800m outdoors, and 1:26.6 600m indoors. These are my main events. I've been varsity since frosh year and have been part of league winning and state group winning teams (track is our only good sport at my school:p). I have been all league 3 times and all county at various levels both relay and individual several times. Currently ran a 17:29 5k the other day too for XC.

For extracurriculars well I guess there's a lot. I guess I'll start with hobbies. Besides taking care of my dog I love to go fishing with my grandpa and I still collect rocks and minerals, something I started in 6th grade. For volunteer service I don't have any approximate hours but I have several key events that I help stage every year. In the fall I get heavily involved with two events. I help execute a large motorcycle run that goes for charity and have done so since 2005, we start in the wee hours of the morning and go till around 4. For the next one I actively participate in my local county zoo's Zoo Boo which again is a charity event. It's scary but all the proceeds go to local charities and food pantries. I been going to the Zoo for a very long time, a lot of fond memories there. Also I give back to the track program that I first started running with by coaching and training kids in the program (for no pay it's a parochial league) and have helped them stage the meet they host annually. This year at my school we actually connected with this league to host another meet for them so I ended up playing a big part in executing the meet and running the event which benefited the school. I guess for clubs since track chews up so much time I'm a bit limited but I compete in DECA each year. I also participate in my school's young republican's club since I love politics. I tried to form a young libertarian's club but there weren't enough people and for some budgetary reason we can't make anymore clubs.
Another extracurricular if you consider it such I was offered to go on a trip via my school to go study some of Thomas Jefferson's manuscripts and original writings with some of the historians that decode these and publish them as the Jefferson papers. This was by far one of the coolest things I've done academically ever.

I also love to listen to classical music if that means anything lol.

Well thanks to anyone who had the patience read this whole thing and I really appreciate your help, whatever form it may be in. I hope this hasn't been too much of overkill either. I also thank you in advance for whatever comments or criticisms you provide, I hope I haven't used up or wasted too much of your time.

Sincerely, A concerned high school student
