I really want to attend Rice, and how much effect does having a campus visit/interview/applying early decision help?

Thanks!!

I was admitted ED this year, for me, I think my interview helped a lot. I was really able to connect with my interviewer and he was able to see some things that I really didn’t get to talk about on the application enough. I did indeed visit the campus and took a tour as well as attended the engineering seminar (My planned major).

Really, it’s about showing a passion/drive IMO, and that’s what got me in.

iirc ED acceptance rate is like 5% more than RD, so take that for what you will.

In terms of your stats, I’d try to raise that UW GPA, and a 33+ ACT would probably recommended. I was able to get the score I wanted the summer after Junior year.

My daughter was admitted this year ED. She visited campus, attended an off campus information session, and requested an interview. ACT score was a 34 but super scored would be a 35. GPA unweighted at time of application was around a 3.9.

I think showing continued interest is very important. Taking the most rigorous courses offered, and doing well in those classes. I don’t know that applying ED makes that much of a difference. I think showing passion for the school and what you can bring to it is what helps the most.
