Early Decision Chances?

So I visited Dartmouth back around New Years and loved it. I think I actually go back to do an actual tour/info session. I'm definitely going to apply in the fall, and I'm thinking about doing ED. What would my chances be for Early Decision?

any ideas?

Your scores and EC’s look pretty similar to mine, and I got in when I applied regular decision. but what’s the scale used for your GPA?

GPA scale is anything in the A range is a 4, anything in the B range is a 3, etc. My school doesn’t calculate unweighted so I did that myself. My transcript also has some random semester grades in it for a couple full year classes, so I counted the semesters in rather than calculate a “final” grade. If had averaged semesters, I would have a 4.0. The lowest grade I’ve earned is a 89, one for the first semester of AP Chem, one for the first semester of AP physics and 2 freshman year. Everything else is an A.

On Naviance, it shows my weighted GPA as well above the average for students accepted to Dartmouth. Our weighted GPA system is really complicated: in theory you could get a 6.0 if you got all A+s in all AP classes, but since there aren’t always AP-level options and there are required classes that aren’t even honors, a 6 isnt possible.

Haha that does sound complicated. Either way I think you sound like a pretty strong candidate; just make sure to spend some time on your essays and get everything in on time. I would definitely encourage you to apply early if you’re interested. If it helps, I applied regular only and got a likely letter, and like I said, your qualifications seem pretty similar to mine.

Hope this helps! Good luck to you.
