<p>Hi everyone, I’m applying ED to Amherst this fall and was wondering if any of you have time to assess what my chances are, Thanks!</p>
<p>GPA: 99 weighted (I don’t know unweighted, our school doesn’t show it on the transcript)
Currently Taking 6 AP Classes
Took 3 AP Classes last year, receiving two 5s and a 4
SAT: Math-720 Verbal-700 Writing-730 (1420/2150)
SAT II: Bio-760 U.S. History-710 Math Level 1-690 Math Level 2-770</p>
<p>I will be applying with the arts supplement and aim to minor in music
-All-State Jazz Alto Saxophonist Alternate (which is about top 5 in the state)
-Participated in the Jazz Ensemble all four years of high school
-Performed at a volunteer fund-raiser concert in school
-Participated in the school marching band 9th through 12th
-Studied privately for 8 years
-Video Recorded a solo performance for NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) judges to study from
-Received a 100, 98, 94, 99, 100 in the NYSSMA festival during the past 5 years</p>
<p>80 Volunteering hours at a local senior-citizen home</p>
<p>My kid had roughly similar stats and got in ED. He took the SAT twice and it made his superscore higher (2200), but each individual sitting looked more or less equivalent to yours, but distributed differently across the subsections. SATIIs roughly similar (770,730). Also caucasion male. Where you have music, he had a sport. He's from a geographically distant part of the country, which I understand can be a miniscule help. You never know when they might need another good saxaphonist, although generally sax is a pretty well represented instrument these days so there may be less likelihood they'll be casting a net for that. I dunno. All you can do is apply, anyway, regardless of what anyone says about your chances. Go for it. Write a fantastic essay.</p>
<p>I'm considering applying to Amherst, too. Probably not for ED though. We have some pretty similar stats and I play the alto sax, too. Good luck on your apps and maybe I'll see you there.</p>
