Early Decision Class of '19

Has anyone else gotten a decision?

@dannybugs Have you heard anything from WFU?

Does anyone know what percentage of the class are given spots via ED? I’m applying regular decision but am scared there will be few spots left

@kdancer97 According to WFU’s website, less than 10% of applicants apply ED, but they make up about 35% of the incoming freshman class.

@brooksben1‌ not yet… I hit 5 weeks on Monday, so I am hoping to hear this week.

@dannybugs I hit 5 weeks this past Thursday, so I am hoping to hear this week too! Let me know when you get your decision

We were told that the ED applications have been increasing annually. They are planning to admit upwards of 50% of the class ED this year.

interesting. As of right now their website still says they admit about 30% of the class ED, but maybe that has changed?

submitted my ED application October 10th, said it would take 4-6 weeks. Last friday marked week 3, how long has it been taking everyone else?

My son got his acceptance letter today–exactly six weeks after his interview.

Anyone know if the acceptance letter comes in a bigger package or if it’s in the small envelope like the confirmation letter?

It’s a large black envelope that says, “Welcome to Wake Forest” on the outside. There is no mistaking it for anything other than good news!

Presidential Scholarship notifications are also out now! Congrats and good luck to those waiting on an acceptance.

@katacue218‌ - By snail mail or email?

Really? Presidential Scholarships are out? Don’t most require an audition? Are you talking an invitation to audition? Which presidential scholarship did you apply for? And yes, how did it come… email or snail mail?

Sorry for the delayed response. My son is a Deac! Applied mid June, heard about acceptance late July. (about 5 weeks)

I believe it was his devotion to research and his awards/recognition for that dedication that helped him get accepted. Wake is a perfect fit for him, and he for it.

From your screen name I take it you are from PA too? We are about to go through the same process (ED at Wake applying in June) for my daughter. Any advice or words of encouragement?

Depending on grades, my college counselor told me to apply ED right at the deadline to show my strong “A” grades for my first marking period of my senior year to Wake. I got in ED so I would be weary of applying very early. However, it may be a risk if you do not preform well at the beginning of your senior year aka “senior slump” which hurt many of my friends. Just some advice to ponder.

If your grades are solid and you are sure that Wake is your first choice, applying as early as possible is statistically in your favor. You are competing with a smaller pool and obviously there are more spots available. I have to add that knowing in August did make senior year much more enjoyable. Additionally, should things not work out, you have the ability to apply ED to another school.

Good luck!
