Early Decision Class of 2020

What does the rejection letter look like? Can anyone share?

Why isn’t this letter coming?
I expected it to be here by tuesday but still not here.
I’m in KY.

Frustrated

@sibural

Check out comment #174 from last year’s early decision forum for Colgate.

I am still waiting to hear back too. I’ve heard that acceptances were mailed on Friday and denials/deferrals were mailed on Monday. Hopefully, that isn’t the case or I will have lost a lot of respect for an incredible university. I am hoping that the decisions (acceptances, deferrals, and denials) have been gradually finding their way to people’s front porches in no particular order. Regardless, everyone should have their decisions by tomorrow, including you and I.

Good luck to you!

Still have not gotten my decision through mail, calling now.

They will be informing me over email, should be within an hour.

I’m a student worker in the admission office at Colgate and I can confirm that all decision letters were sent from the Office of Admission to FedEx and USPS on Friday, December 11th.

Finally got my rejection via email, so I guess I can move on now. Best wishes to everyone!

Andrea820, sorry to hear you had to resort to email. That’s most unfortunate. After watching this discussion unfold over the past week, I finally have to weigh in. “gocolgateraiders” says above that all decision letters were mailed on Friday, December 11, but I have yet to hear from anyone whose REJECTION letter was postmarked 12/11. They were mailed on Monday, December 14th. The letter inside the envelope, was dated from Friday, but they were not actually mailed for three days. I only wish I could add a photo of the postmark from 12/14 so that future readers of this thread will be prepared for the fact that Colgate significantly delayed their rejection letters, costing applicants they rejected valuable time and stress. Instead of spending this week regrouping and moving forward, many of us have spent the week loosing sleep, unable to focus, racing to the mailbox and wasting our time that could have been spent on other applications, etc. It’s most unfortunate that Colgate doesn’t have the courtesy to treat us with dignity and respect. Future applicants beware!

I got my deferral letter in the mail yesterday, and they did send it on Friday, December 11 from Hamilton. It was then post marked the 14th from Syracuse. Colgate did send everything Friday, the mail probably was just backed up because of the holiday. It is a really great school and truthfully did send all letters Friday.

Sarah112397,

I am glad you took the time to supply pertinent information regarding the mailing of the letters. Now, and assuming that people believe you, it has become clear that no one deliberately misled or mistreated any applicants.

Of course I know that the pressure is on to learn the status of application decisions. And I hope that everyone will ultimately be satisfied with their choice of college.

Good luck with your college search!

Sarah112397, I’m wondering how exactly you “know” your letter was mailed on 12/11, and thank you “markham,” who has been a member of CC since 2007 (8 years??), for your condescending comments. Wonder what you do for a living?

Flchuck,

You will learn more about how the letters were mailed and how they were handled by postal services in and around Hamilton if Sarah bothers assisting you.

In the meantime, surely you can pursue other lines of inquiry. And also ponder why anyone would choose to delay these notification letters.

Yes, I have been contributing to cc for many years. Take it or leave it, as you will. The rest of my business is my business. You will get the hang of the forum when you have a bit more experience- or at least I hope so. Hint: fewer words in quotes might get you further.

Good luck with your college search!

For all those accepted, after paying the $500 deposit, did you get anything regarding setting up a Colgate student account? Or something that confirms that you are officially enrolled? I paid the deposit and got an email about the payment, but my applicant portal still displays the “To complete your enrollment, please check the box…” statement, and I’m not really sure what to think about this. If anyone can give insight, that would be a big help. I’m also curious because I’ve heard of other schools sending the students a confirmation email and student account after sending in the deposit. Thanks in advance!

I recieved a confirmation letter sent in the mail today

@MarvinGardens When did you send in the deposit, and what did the mail say? Also, if you don’t mind, can you tell me what your online applicant portal says, specifically if it still has the “To complete your enrollment…” statement? I would really appreciate it!

I just want to make sure there is no misunderstanding with my enrollment to avoid any complications that will add any unnecessary stress. Thanks in advance.

I paid it on December 15th. The letter basically said thank you for confirming your enrollment to Colgate University. The portal says says: thank you for completing the enrollment process. We are delighted to welcome you into the colgate community.

Crusader2016,

A short telephone call to the Office of Admissions will resolve this issue.

For those of you who paid online, did you also send in the signed enrollment agreement by mail? Or do we not have to if we pay online and check the box? Just making sure. Thanks

I just joined college confidential but I got my rejection letter Saturday the 12th – I live in state. They sent out all the letters at the same time, it just depends on the speed of your local postal office.
