I know it’s a bit early, but has anyone submitted their ED application yet? We’re able to hit “send” upon completion of our Junior year. I just interviewed last Friday, thus making my application complete!
I am planning on doing so soon! Question: how did you get your school to send your paper work so soon? Mine said they wouldn’t be able to give me my rank until August ):
Actually, I’m homeschooled. I have guidance counselor, but she’s all mine And there’s no such thing as a class rank for me.
@lawlover0520 ah I apologize! I didn’t get the notification that you posted in this thread! That’s awesome, best of luck!
I’ve seen that Wake says that decisions on ED applications are made on a rolling basis. Any idea how long WF typically takes to respond to an ED application? Thank you
@wildcat1967 the earlier you submit the faster your response based on past years. I think the average wait for ED was 4-6 weeks. Good luck. My son will be a senior…loves everything about Wake
Yes, ED decisions are made on a rolling basis. Last fall, students heard back in as quickly as two weeks or so and as long as 6-7 weeks. You may have seen on the Wake admissions blog (March 23) that the % of the class of 2021 enrolled through ED increased from 40% the previous two years to 55%, and admissions suggested that this might be a trend not a blip.
Does anyone know if getting accepted through ED hurts chances at merit scholarships? It seems that if the school knows you are locked in, WF has less need to offer merit scholarships as they won’t be an incentive to come to Wake.
@wildcat1967 Actually, I just got a letter today confirming the receipt of my ED application. They said that under no circumstances do ED applicants get “penalized” for submitting early–all scholarships are still up for grabs.
I am not applying early decision, but I was looking at the interview scheduling page that it only allows you to schedule up to Sept 1 although the interviews go well into the fall and beginning of winter. Does anyone know if the options for interview dates in Oct or Nov will appear soon?
You said that you had your interview already-mine is next week. Could you give some insight into the type of questions you were asked, what the interview was like, and what others who were interviewing were wearing? Thanks!
@kem1234 Wake puts a lot of emphasis on the interview, but I’ve never heard of anyone who had a stressful interview. The questions they ask are pretty open-ended; however, I would reccomend preparing if you don’t have a lot of experience interviewing.
Wake admissions has some awesome resources for helping you get ready for the interview:

Based on the experience I had with the interview, they tend to use the questions from the application as questions for the interview. A number of friends and other people I spoke to agreed. You can find a copy of the application here:

In terms of what to wear, I’ve seen a wide range of attire. If you’re interviewing on campus with a tour before or after, definitely dress for the summer heat of North Carolina! I’d say girls typically wear a sundress or pants with a nice blouse. Guys usually go for a button-down shirt, polo, and I’ve even seen a few in ties. Obviously, dress however you are comfortable, but still try to look presentable.
Other than that, best of luck on the interview, and please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
They asked questions similar to the ones on their applications. They really want to know what kind of Deac you’ll be so it’s often specific to those types of students. The majority of those who attend WFU study abroad, so they asked where I’d travel–stuff like that.
@madison2000, just check back regularly to see when the interview slots open up for dates after Sept. 1. I would imagine that it would not be too, too long from now, as admissions, I’m sure, is mindful that some students have to travel for them and would need time to make arrangements. Good luck!
Question: How do we know what documents we still need and when our application is 100% completed, with the guidance and teacher supplements
I called the office and they told me that my application was complete
@lawlover0520 Did they say if they have started making decisions?
No, they haven’t. They just said that the decision should be released within 6-8 weeks.
@lawlover0520 Do you think 6-8 weeks from competition of app or from yesterday?
From completion of the application.
