My question is…does any one have an idea of how difficult and homework heavy Wake is? We are hearing it is extremely hard to get the work done and this coming from students at a very competitive and difficult high school. Thanks!
I was just accepted under the Early Decision plan! Go Deacs!

S is a freshmen. Excellent student and VERY organized / disciplined. The first month he thought is it was not that difficult. Since then, very challenging, but according to him, manageable. I take that to mean a lot of work, but if you are organized, very doable. He hasn’t missed ANY social activities, participates in clubs, attends all the sporting events, plays intramural sports, goes to frat parties every week (2 or 3 nights per). He LOVES it. Work shouldn’t scare you away.
ooh @missjoy12 I can answer that one! First year student at Wake here, doing homework right now actually lmao
Not going to lie, there’s a lot of pressure to succeed here. The school’s unofficial motto is “work hard play hard”, and that certainly rings true. The library is always full of students (and open 24 hours during the week), and people take their education here very seriously. Everyone wants to make As. Everyone wants to have a sparkling 4.0 GPA. However, that hardly ever happens bc of grade deflation. I know as a freshman taking all of the divisional classes I have quite a bit of workload every night. It just depends on the classes. But know that if you do come to Wake, be prepared to work.
Just found this group! Applied ED on the deadline day - Nov. 15th. I am so anxious to hear something but since I was so late applying, I am sure it will be the end of December at this point. Wake Forest was the last school I looked at and it was my clear #1. Interviewed in late October. Good luck to everyone!
Just had the interview on Monday for early decision. How long does it take to get the result back? And anyone knows how much does the interview weigh in the whole application process?
@wishgetinwfu The interview is really important to them. Not sure how to know exactly. I think you still Have to be strong in most areas but the interview could move you forward for sure. Did you apply ED by Nov 15? Or are you applying ED II?
Got it. Thank you. ED by Nov 15
@wishgetinwfu Same Here - ED by Nov 15th and I submitted the last day that I could (15th). From reading a lot of other posts, I am expecting a 6-8 week wait at this point. Ugh.
What else are you considering? I have applied for Tulane and Northeastern for early action, UC(LA, SB,SD). I am thinking about Colorado College and University of Richmond too since I really like LAC.
@wishgetinwfu I live in Virginia, so UVA may be my second choice although it is bigger than I’d like. I have a few friends there that love it. I toured Davidson - just didn’t strike a chord for me, personally… (excellent school, though…)and also visited Univ of Richmond. I liked the school but wasn’t ‘sold’ on the Theatre department, which is impt to me. I did consider Colorado College as well but it is pretty far from Virginia and ultra, ultra liberal. I am looking for a good mix of views but I don’t want an ‘extreme’. Again, that is just a personal preference. Colorado College is an amazing school overall. I’ve also had a couple friends go to U or R and they loved it.
I live in Norfolk, VA. I have thought about UVA but it’s just not what I like. I don’t know what to do now. I don’t want to make any decision before the result comes out, but have to be prepared for the worst…
Did any of you apply Early Decision pretty close to the Nov 15th Deadline? If so, please keep us updated when you hear something! Hoping good outcomes for all of you…
D submitted application on Nov. 4. Interviewed on Nov. 8. Not received anything. yet.
@maplefall Good to know! I have a feeling it will be closer to Christmas. Please post any updates!
Hope we all have good news to share soon.
Good luck to everyone. It’s a special place!
Just received the official black and gold packet in the mail - ACCEPTED! Still can’t believe it!
Interviewed October 20, applied on deadline day - Nov 15th.

I️ honestly think my GPA is what did me in and hopefully my performance this semester will show I️ am a strong candidate for admission.
Stay in touch with the admission officer. Let them know how much you want to attend. Interest is a big think at Wake. Good luck to you.
Just so you know, should it not work out, you will find a great place and they will be lucky to have you. My S was deferred and declined somewhere else. It was his dream. Wake was a strong 2nd. After his 1st semester, he couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. You will find a great spot, hopefully in WInston Salem.
