Early Decision Class of 2022

Hi! I am applying Early Decision to hopefully be a part of the Wellesley Class of 2022!

Does anyone have any tips, advice, or want to casually freak out with me?

I’m applying early too! I’ve already submitted my application, so I’m just stressing out now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m strongly considering it too! Can you guys tell me what other schools you were considering and why you have chosen to ED to Wellesley? thanks so much

Well, I toured a bunch of colleges this past spring (wellesley, dartmouth, middlebury, princeton, swarthmore, haverford, and duke). At the end of it, I realized that while there was nothing at the other schools that wasn’t available wellesley, every single school I visited was missing something that wellesley did. Also, I actually went into the trip looking for reasons to not go to wellesley, since I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go there for myself or just because my mom went and loved it. Even in spite of that, though, wellesley still ended up on top. It had everything I was looking for in a school: strong academics, an amazingly tightly-knit community, and overall felt like a place where I would want to spend four years.

@ChickadeeBiscuit I still have to finish my application but I just did my alumna interview today! It’s a little nerve-wracking thinking about how far away the acceptance/rejection letters are.

@libartscollege I was also looking at Simmons, Smith, Brandeis, Fordham, and Boston U. I decided to apply ED for Wellesley because I can’t find a single thing that puts me off from the school. Even things that I am not 100% happy with, I find myself justifying how amazing those aspects of Wellesley are. And when I stepped on campus for JOC last year I felt so connected and happy that I started to cry a little bit

I am doing ED too! I’ve never visited Wellesley since it’s halfway across the country, but I honestly can’t see myself anywhere else. I love it so much and I really hope I can get in :’). I’m a bit scared though because I’m relying on financial aid and I can pay the amount according to their Collegeboard price calculator, and I hope that amount stays true if I do somehow manage to get in. Is anyone else is a similar situation?

@akabrowny Wellesley’s net price calculator has a good reputation for being accurate. However, it’s only as good as the data you entered. The FAFSA and CSS forms require a lot more detail so hopefully that matches the data you entered into the calculator.

Keep a copy of the calculator input/output for future reference in case a large discrepancy arises with financial aid awards.

Good luck!

@Isabellab2000 The time will fly by and decisions will be here before you know it. The longest part is watching the clock on the day decisions are released! Good luck!

@Isabellab2000 I’m still waiting to get my interview, even though I submitted it two weeks ago. How do you think your’s went?

@ChickadeeBiscuit I think it went really well! We talked a lot about the Wellesley community, and her time she spent there. She thought I would be a good match for the school and now I’m really excited! Are you doing an on or off campus interview?

@akabrowny I love the campus. If you ever get the chance to visit it is beautiful. I went to their Junior Open Campus and I’m going to Wellesley Weekend and I can’t wait! But I completely understand the distance issue. I’m about a 6 hour drive and even that is a little cumbersome. I couldn’t imagine being halfway across the country and trying to visit!

@Isabellab2000 That’s good! I just had mine yesterday. I thought it went well too, but then of course as soon as I finished I thought of all of the things I should have said. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had an off campus one, because I live clear across the country. But that’s so awesome that you’re going to the Wellesley Weekend! I really wanted to go, but unfortunately it wasn’t feasible.

I have decided to apply ED! @ChickadeeBiscuit @Isabellab2000 I am wondering if you could post your stats and ECs? I am super nervous since kids from my school don’t apply to wellesley and I am wondering what types of students fall into their ED pool

@libartscollege Sure! However, I’m homeschooled so my stats are a little different. Also, my mom and aunt went to Wellesley, so I have a pretty strong legacy component.

SAT: 1490 (770 reading / 720 math)
SAT II: 790 Math II, 790 Literature

Hi! I just found this thread because I am also freaking out about getting into Wellesley!! I’m applying ED and almost ready to submit so now there’s nothing to do but totally freak out. Also does anyone know how they’re going to let us know and by what date? I’m assuming email, but I saw someone said something about a portal last year and I don’t know what that is.

@CucumberCros well you definitely came to the right place! We can all freak out together.

As to the portal, you get access to it once you submit your application. They send you an email with your username and password.

Hey, y’all! Current Wellesley student here, class of 2021. If you have any questions or just want someone to scream with, please feel free to hit me up! Also, a word of advice: complete the CSS. Wells has a lot of money to give you, and the CSS is the best way to get it. Do the CSS. The CSS is love. The CSS is life.

@ophelic hi!!! thank you so much for joining us!! would you be willing to share your decision plan/stats/fav thing about wellesley?

Same here!! Submitted my app last week and am flying up to Boston (I’m from south Texas) to interview on Saturday.
