Early Decision Conundrum

I already committed myself to applying early decision to a school (signed the forms and everything), but am suddenly starting to feel like it may be better to take more time with my application. Would it be a problem if I simply did not turn in an application by the early decision deadline? I still would want to apply for my ED school RD, but would the school have an issue with the fact that I signed the ED paperwork but missed the deadline?

Simply send a note to the college and explain that you’ve decided not to proceed with the ED application and that you are planning to apply RD. It is never appropriate in business situations (and the college application process is indeed one of them) to proceed indirectly, such as you’re suggesting. The college has not yet invested time in evaluating your application so they would not have an issue with the change.
